The NFP is initiated and fully funded by the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs from the budget for development cooperation. Business School Netherlands is proud to be one of the Dutch institutions offering NFP-qualified courses to managers and trainee managers who are looking to tackle the food security issues within in their country. The funding for this MBA Scholarship, better known as the Netherlands Fellowship Programme (NFP), is made available through Nuffic the Governmental body responsible for the promotion of the Dutch Higher Education system worldwide

NFP is a full (100%) MBA Scholarship programme designed to foster institutional development within certain parts of the world. Applicants to certain academic and short courses of Dutch higher education institutions apply for the fellowship to cover the cost of tuition fees, accommodation and international travel for study

Business School Netherlands (BSN), the Action Learning business school, is now open for applicants wanting to study an International MBA with a focus on food security. Eligible applicants living in one of the 51 NFP countries and working in Government, Semi-Government, small-medium organisations and local community NGO’s are invited to apply for the International Action Learning MBA with a Major in Food Security programme until 22 July 2016

This English part-time, blended learning MBA programme, allows for a very practical approach to educating business leaders of the future. The International Action Learning MBA is designed for working professionals in the food security/agriculture/farming sectors who are interested in finding solutions to current management issues within their own organisations whilst achieving personal enrichment and great ROI

Approximately, 1000 courses (Masters and Short Courses) are offered each year through the NFP scholarship whereby 20,000 applications are received. 7,000 nominations are processed and then assessed by the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Dutch embassies, rounding up a final 2,000 candidates who are selected from the various Dutch institutions, BSN being one of the chosen institutes. Eligibility

The following are the eligibility criteria for these scholarships:

  • Mid-career professionals in employment
  • Only the individual applicant can apply for funding
  • The training must occur within the context of the organisation with which the applicant works
  • The training must be seen to help the organisation in its development strategies
  • Employer support is essential

Note: while fellowships are awarded to individuals, the need for training must occur within the context of the organization for which an applicant works. The training must help the organization to develop its capacity. This means that applicants must be nominated by their employers. In fact, an application without the support of an employer will not be considered

Priorities

Half of the available funding from the NFP budget should be spent on fellowships for female candidates and for candidates from sub-Saharan Africa. Apart from this, priority is given to candidates from deprived groups and/or from marginalized regions.

Additionally, the overall objective is to spend 35% of the budget on grants and study programmes in food security and private sector development

  • Applicants will first need to make application with BSN for the International Action Learning MBA with a Major in Food Security and ensure that they meet all the entry requirements of this programme
  • Priority focus is given to applicants who live and work in Sub-Saharan Africa, work within the food security/agriculture/farming sectors as well as female applicants

Value

The duration of the Melbourne Research Scholarship is two years for students undertaking a Master by research degree and three years, with a possible six-month extension, for students undertaking a Doctorate by research degree. With a view to attracting outstanding local students to advance their studies at home and meritorious non-local students to pursue higher education opportunities in Hong Kong, the HKSAR Government established in 2008 the $1 billion HKSAR Government Scholarship Fund (the Fund) to recognize outstanding local and non-local students

The aim of education for Hong Kong is to promote students’ whole-person development and life-long learning capabilities. Education helps to unleash human potentials and enhance people qualities and the competitiveness of the HKSAR. The scholarships are available for pursuing full-time publicly-funded programmes at degree or above levels at the following participating institutions:

Applicants must meet the following guidelines as follows:

Talent Development Scholarship (TDS): To be eligible for the TDS, students must:

  • Be currently pursuing full-time publicly-funded/UGC-funded undergraduate and postgraduate program
  • Achieve a minimum CGPA of 3.0 or equivalent, or
  • Have a recommendation from respective supervisor(s) (applicable for postgraduate research students); and
  • Receive an award in either inter-institution, local, regional or national event within recent three years (from January 1, 2012 – present) in one of the following areas with documentary proof: Sports and games; Music and performing arts; Culture, arts and design; or Innovation, science, and technology.

Reaching Out Award (ROA): To be eligible to apply for the ROA, students must:

  • Be currently pursuing full-time publicly-funded/UGC-funded undergraduate or postgraduate program
  • Achieve a minimum CGPA of 3.0 or equivalent, or
  • Have a recommendation from respective supervisor(s) (applicable for postgraduate research students); and
  • Participate in an outreaching activity that is conducted outside Hong Kong in the academic year 2016/17 with proof of admission/enrolment.

Endeavour Merit Award: EMA shall be made on the basis of merits to students with SEN who:

  • Are currently pursuing full-time publicly-funded/UGC-funded undergraduate or postgraduate program
  • Achieve a minimum CGPA of 2.5 or equivalent, or
  • Have a recommendation from respective supervisor(s) (applicable for postgraduate research students); and
  • Are able to provide documentary proof of SEN

Note: Local and international students can apply for the scholarships and would have to demonstrate that they have a good level of written and spoken English. Scholarships are provided to study all the subjects offered by the university

Value

  • The scholarship is $40,000 per year for local students and $80,000 per year for non-local students
  • In 2011, the Government injected $250 million into the Fund to extend the benefit to students of full-time publicly-funded sub-degree programs offered by five institutions ( the programmes City University of Hong Kong, the Education University of Hong Kong, the Hong Kong Polytechnic University, HKAPA and the Vocational Training Council) from 2011/12 academic year onwards.  The scholarship award for these sub-degree students is between $20,000 to $30,000 per year for both local and non-local students

Applications are invited for the 2016 Canadian Government Scholarships for International Students. The Scholarships are available for pursuing PhD level studies at Canadian Universities

The Government of Canada launched the Vanier Canada Graduate Scholarships (Vanier CGS) program in 2008 to strengthen Canada’s ability to attract and retain world-class doctoral students and establish Canada as a global centre of excellence in research and higher learning. Vanier Scholars demonstrate leadership skills and a high standard of scholarly achievement in graduate studies in the social sciences and/or humanities, natural sciences and/or engineering and health

Up to 167 Scholarships are awarded annually for a period of 3 years (non-renewable). A total of up to 500 Scholarships are active at any time. Scholarships are provided to study any one of the courses offered by the Canadian universities. These scholarships can only be taken in Canada

Eligibility

Canadian citizens, permanent residents of Canada and foreign citizens are eligible to be nominated for a Vanier CGS. To be considered for a Vanier CGS, applicants must:

  • Be nominated by only one Canadian institution, which must have received a Vanier CGS quota
  • Be pursuing your first doctoral degree (including joint undergraduate/graduate research program such as MD/Ph.D., DVM/Ph.D., JD/PhD – if it has a demonstrated and significant research component). Note that only the Ph.D. portion of a combined degree is eligible for funding
  • Intend to pursue, in the summer semester or the academic year following the announcement of results, full-time doctoral (or a joint graduate program such as: MD/PhD, DVM/PhD, JD/PhD) studies and research at the nominating institution; Note that only the Ph.D. portion of a combined degree is eligible for funding
  • Not have completed more than 20 months of doctoral studies as of May 1, 2017
  • Have achieved a first-class average, as determined by your institution, in each of the last two years of full-time study or equivalent. Candidates are encouraged to contact the institution for its definition of a first-class average
  • Must not hold, or have held, a doctoral-level scholarship or fellowship from CIHR, NSERC or SSHRC to undertake or complete a doctoral degree
  • Note: Applicants from outside the home country will often need to meet specific English language/other language requirements in order to be able to study there

The Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung (KAS) is a political foundation, inspired by Christian democratic values, committed to fostering democracy and the rule of law, to implementing social and market-economic structures and to promoting human rights in Europe and worldwide

The sponsorship program for foreign students (Ausländerförderung) is aimed at international students and graduates who have acquired a university degree in their home country and who intend to complete postgraduate or master studies, doctoral studies or a research stay at a university in Germany

Eligibility

The following criteria must be met in order for applicants to be eligible for this scholarship:
Applicants should

  • Be able to provide evidence of above average academic performance
  • Bring broad general education and distinct interest in political issues
  • Have a positive attitude towards democracy and human rights
  • Have been actively engaged in voluntary work for the benefit of the people and the society in their home countries
  • Be open to developing their personal points of view and practice tolerance towards those with different beliefs
  • Be highly motivated and be able to convince us with their own plans and potential

 

Our scholarships consist not only of financial assistance but also include a program of ideational support. We expect our scholars to participate actively in this program throughout the eligibility period, including

  • The participation in at least four multi-day seminars of our annual agenda
  • Regular attendance and active participation in the meetings of the regional scholar group at their university. The activities of these regional scholar groups offer a unique opportunity to enter into an interdisciplinary, political and personal exchange with other scholars, alumni and representatives of our foundation at the universities, the so-called “Vertrauensdozenten”.

Value

This Scholarship offers the following:

  • Duration and level of funding vary for different types of studies. Graduates (master or postgraduate students) receive a monthly scholarship of € 750. The standard funding period is two years
  • After having obtained unconditional admission to doctoral studies at a German university, PhD-students receive a monthly scholarship of € 920. The standard funding period for Ph.D. scholars is three years
  • We also fund research stays in Germany with duration of at least 6 months by the same amount (€ 920) under the condition that the applicant holds a university degree comparable to the German Master’s degree and provides evidence of at least two years of work experience in the academic field
  • Besides the monthly scholarship payments, they offer multiple subsidies for our scholars. On request, we subsidise health care insurance of up to the amount of € 120 per month
  • Also, we pay a family supplement provided that you and your spouse live together in one place in Germany for at least three months and that his/her income does not exceed the amount of € 450 per month. We grant a supplement of € 184 per month for children living with you in Germany. Prerequisites are the submission of an official German translation of the child’s birth certificate and the official rejection of your demand for public child allowance
  • PhD-scholars can apply for financial assistance for foreign research stays although we do not fund participation in congresses or symposia
  • Fees resulting from courses at the university in Germany that are directly related to your studies can be refunded up to the amount of € 500 per semester. In contrast, we do not refund regular semester fees resulting from matriculation or annual re-registration
  • Note: after finishing their studies in Germany, the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung expects its former scholars to contribute actively to the development of their home country’s relations with the Federal Republic of Germany

Important information regarding the formal application requirements:

  • The minimum period in our scholarship program is one year and the remaining length of applicants studies or research in Germany has to be at least two semesters. They do not provide support for bachelor studies. Only students in master, postgraduate or doctoral studies are eligible for our scholarship program
  • Students in Medicine or Pharmacy can only apply after having completed their intermediate exam in Germany or when having achieved a comparable stage of their studies in another country. Human or dental medicine specialist training or postgraduate research stays in Germany cannot be supported
  • Persons having already achieved a doctorate are not eligible for a scholarship
  • There is an age limit of 30 years for all applicants
  • Our program of ideational support and the activities of the regional scholar groups are held in German. For this reason, a sufficient knowledge of the German language (level B2 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages) is obligatory for all scholars even if the courses of their planned studies are taught in English. In general, our scholars take and pass the DSH exam (Deutsche Sprachprüfung für den Hochschulzugang – German Exam for College Admission) or the DaF-test (Deutsch als Fremdsprache – Test of German as a foreign language) with a high rating before the beginning of their university studies in Germany. In exceptional cases and for highly qualified applicants only, we financially support German language courses as preparation for studies in Germany
  • International applicants are eligible to apply for these scholarships

  • A meaningful CV in tabular form including details about your previous voluntary work or social commitment
  • Copies of your examination certificates in German translation if the originals are not in English
  • Copies of your studies performance records if you have been studying at a University in Germany
  • Proof of German language skills
  • An informal academic letter of recommendation: This opinion should provide information about your academic qualifications and potential; it should not be older than two months. The author has to be a university professor or teacher holding a doctoral degree
  • An informal letter of recommendation concerning the applicant’s personality: This opinion should focus on your personality and interests as well as on your understanding of values and your social commitment. The author cannot be the same as that providing the academic letter of recommendation
  • Certificate of admission or matriculation from your university in Germany
  • Two passport photographs: If applying for a doctoral scholarship, please attach additionally
  • A detailed description of your doctoral thesis: This exposé, written in German or English (4-5 pages), should outline the central research question of your proposed project, its scientific relevance, your theoretical approach and the motives behind your choice of the research subject. It should also contain a work and time schedule and a bibliography
  • A second academic letter of recommendation: This second opinion should be written by the supervisor of your doctoral thesis, providing you already have one. It replaces the letter of recommendation concerning the applicant’s personality

Applications are invited for the New Low Income Countries Scholarships by DAAD and HSW, Germany. For the second time, the Hochschulwerk of Witten/Herdecke University, in cooperation with the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD), offers a scholarship for international Witten/Herdecke students from lower income countries

Scholarship description

This funding forms a program of non-repayable support to help to ensure that a Witten degree is accessible to all academically talented international students regardless of family income. As tuition fees can be paid after the completion of the studies in dependence on the personal income (inverse contract between student generations), this award is intended to help with living expenses only

Eligibility

Eligible are Witten/Herdecke international students who meet the following criteria:

  • Nationality of a lower income country (annual GDP/capita less than 10.000,00 $)
  • Registration certificate or successful application for a degree program at Witten/Herdecke University. You have to have a confirmation letter from the University Witten/Herdecke, affirming that you will definitely study at the university
  • Personal need of funding (to be confirmed by the Social Committee)

Value

The scholarship comprises a monthly grant of €700,- for 12 months with the option of extension for another 12 months.  It is not intended for PhD students.  It is not possible to study correspondence courses at the UWH.

The Halmstad University is offering a number of scholarships to qualified students from outside the EU/EEA and Switzerland. These scholarships are available to pursue master’s programme within any field of study at Halmstad University for the spring semester

The Halmstad University is a public higher education institution offering bachelor’s and master’s programmes in various fields of studies. In addition, it conducts Ph.D. programmes in three fields of research, namely, Information Technology, Innovation Science and Health Science. The aim of the university is to strengthen the University’s internationalisation and to recruit as many motivated students to Halmstad University’s education programmes

Eligibility

To meet the entry requirements for master’s level (second cycle or graduate) studies, applicant must:

  • Have been awarded a bachelor’s degree from an internationally recognised university

The Halmstad University Scholarship covers 25% or 50% of the tuition fee and will be deducted from the tuition fee. The scholarship will not cover living costs and there are no grants for family members
