Quest University, Canada is Canada’s first independent, not-for-profit, secular university. Scholarships are awarded to study the courses offered by the university

Eligibility Criteria

The Quest program is rigorous, and an important criterion for a scholarship award is the applicant’s academic record. Applicants whose native language is not English are required to submit the results of a TOEFL (Test of English as Foreign Language) or IELTS (International English Language Testing System) taken within the past two years.

Note: All students, regardless of their country of origin, are eligible to apply for scholarships and/or financial aid. All Quest Scholarships are considered entrance awards and cannot be applied for after the application deadline leading to your first year at Quest

How to apply

  • images.pngScholarship applications can be submitted at any time before the relevant deadline but will not be reviewed until the deadline. All application materials submitted for admission will be considered during the candidate’s scholarship award review
  • Students wishing to apply for scholarships must complete the Scholarship Application Form and submit a résumé, along with two recommendation letters. Your résumé should clearly outline your experiences and achievements. This may include employment, volunteer work, gap year projects, awards, hobbies, skills and so on
  • They ask that one letter of recommendation be an academic reference, and one is a character reference. We will consider up to a maximum of four letters of recommendation. If students send more, it is at the discretion of the admissions committee which four will be considered. Letters must be submitted as PDF files, signed and written on official letterhead, or be sent directly from the person writing them. Letters that do not meet these criteria will not be considered
  • Students applying for the David Strangway Award for Excellence must also submit a maximum 300-word personal introduction to the Faculty Selection Committee. All documents must be submitted in a package together before the March 1 deadline
  • The Scholarship Review Committee will evaluate each student’s application for financial awards (scholarship and/or aid) only once. After an award package has been offered, no other financial awards applications will be accepted
  • Applicants must fill the Application Form

Candidates

  • Must meet all eligibility requirements at the time of contest closing either the 1st November 2016 (date to be confirmed separately for pre-selected students of the CSC)
  • Must have been preselected by a university, the Trans-Tech Network (for CCTT), the SRE or CONACYT on or before September 23, 2016
  • The stock market Québec-China must be pre-selected by the CSC at the latest March 31, 2017
  • Must not have already received a scholarship for foreign students Ministry of Education and Higher Education of Quebec (MEES), the Québec Research Fund – Nature and Technology or the Quebec Research Fund – society and Culture
  • Should not be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident of Canada
  • Must not have applied for permanent residence under the Canadian immigration laws
  • In addition to the conditions mentioned above, the candidate must take note of the restrictions and follow administrative prerequisites:

Restriction for study programs: Candidates for Québec-Wallonie scholarships must have previously studied in a French-speaking Belgian university at the time of receiving the award.

Criteria for the awardees doctoral research (V1, 1B, 1C, 1I, 1M, 1W) are:

  • Be holders of a certificate of acceptance (CAQ) issued by the Department of Immigration, Diversity and Inclusion and a study permit issued by the Canadian Consulate valid throughout the period studies in Quebec.

Holders of a postdoctoral fellowship (V2, 2B, 2C, 2I, 2M) and award of short-term research or professional development (V3, 3B, 3C, 3I, 3M, 3W) must:

  • Be holders of a work permit issued by the Canadian Consulate for the duration of stay in Quebec.

  • Postdoctoral Fellowships (V2, 2B, 2C, 2I, 2M): $ 35,000 for one year, non-renewable
  • Scholarship Short-term research or professional development (V3, 3B, 3C, 3I, 3M, 3W): $ 3,000 per month for a period of four months

How to apply

Once shortlisted, the candidate is given a personal identification number (PIN) and a password. He must then fill out an electronic form which will be attached to the required documents on the website of the NRF . Only the e-form in the 2017/2018 competition and other documents required are accepted

2016/2017 CIGI International Graduate Law Research Programme Scholarship in Canada

Applications are invited for the 2016/2017 Centre for International Governance Innovation (CIGI) International Graduate Law Research Programme Scholarship in Canada. These scholarships are open to Canadian and foreign students who are enrolling or are currently enrolled in masters or doctoral levels studies at a Canadian university faculty of law

Scholarship description

CIGI is an independent, non-partisan think-tank focused on international governance. Led by experienced practitioners and distinguished academics, CIGI supports research, forms networks, advances policy debate and generates ideas for multilateral governance improvements

The ILRP scholarship programme aims to develop world-class intellectual strength in the areas of international law that are most important to global innovation, prosperity, sustainability and security

List of Subjects: The ILRP’s initial areas of focus are the following:

  • Innovation and International environmental law

Eligibility

CIGI invites students who are enrolling or are currently enrolled in a master’s and doctoral levels studies in law to apply for the LLM or SJD/PhD in Law Scholarship:

  • Candidates of all nationalities are eligible. However, Canadian citizens and permanent residents will be given priority
  • Foreign students who are studying at any Ontario or other Canadian university under a temporary resident visa (student study permit) are also eligible to apply

Value

  • The scholarship for LLM students is valued at CDN$ 16,000/year
  • The scholarship for SJD/PhD in Law students is valued at up to CDN $24,000/year
  • A doctoral student who has already been awarded a CIGI ILRP doctoral scholarship may apply for renewal in a subsequent year by submitting a summary renewal application
  • The value, duration and conditions for each scholarship will be detailed in the letter of offer provided to the successful applicant

How to apply

Applications should be submitted via e-mail. Scholarship applications should be received by February 29, 2016. The application should contain the following:

  • Statement of Interest, indicating a clearly specified explanation of why they wish to spend a period of residency at CIGI’s ILRP
  • Research Proposal (not more than 1,500-words) with a description of their proposed research project related to one of the ILRP areas of focus
  • Up-to-date curriculum vitae
  • One letter of support from their current/proposed supervisor in their academic program. For students pursuing their degree through coursework one letter of support from their Dean, Department Head, Program Director or equivalent
  • Three references, at least two of which are academic references. Reference letters can be sent in separately by email
  • A list of previous awards/publications/conference/research experience; and
  • Transcripts from all post-secondary institutions

Summary applications to renew a doctoral scholarship should contain the following:

  • Student’s letter requesting renewal; and
  • Letter of recommendation from the student’s doctoral supervisor affirming that the student is making excellent progress in his/her doctoral research

  • You are registered full time for the first two semesters in the program of study for which the scholarship was granted (winter 2015 and summer 2015)

How to apply

There is no form to complete for master’s level scholarships. Scholarships are automatically awarded to candidates admitted to a master’s program. Recipients are selected using information from admission applications received by University Laval. To be considered, candidates must apply for admission by September 15, 2015. The Registrar’s Office considers the average available when the application is reviewed

Scholarship description

Doctoral Research Fellowship Program for Foreign Students (DE) of the Québec Research Fund – Nature and Technology (FRQNT) aims to stimulate the interest of foreign students to undertake or pursue doctoral studies in Quebec and financially support the best foreign applicants wishing to carry out a doctorate in Natural Sciences, Mathematical Sciences and Engineering. The scholarships are aimed at foreign students who had been pre-selected by a Québec university. Scholarships are tenable for first nine sessions or 36 months

Eligibility

Applicants must fulfill the following criteria:

  • Must meet all eligibility requirements for the competition closing date, which is1st November, 2015
  • Must have been preselected by a Québec university no later than23 September, 2015
  • Must not have already received a scholarship for foreign students Ministry of Education, Higher Education and Research (MEESR) or Quebec granting agencies
  • Should not be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident of Canada
  • Must not have applied for permanent residence under the Canadian immigration laws
  • Only students who have been pre selected by a Québec university may apply for these scholarships

Value

The maximum annual value of the Doctoral Research Scholarship for International Students is $20 000. During the eligibility period (nine sessions or 36 months), the scholarship holder may receive up to nine payments totaling $60 000. Each payment of up to $6 667, covers a period of four months or one session

How to apply

Only students who have been preselected by a Québec university may apply to the competition. University representatives who preselect applicants must fill out the applicant nomination form, which is available on the extranet site of the FRQNT. Preselected applicants will receive a Personal Identification Number (PIN) and a password and must then fill out an e-form to which will be attached the required documents. These forms must be filled out and submitted electronically by the competition deadline

Applications are evaluated according the following criteria:

  • Applicant’s academic record
  • Applicant’s research skills and relevant research experience
  • Quality and scientific interest of the project and socioeconomic scope of the project, if applicable
  • Social involvement, leadership and communication skills

The board of directors of the FRQNT will announce its decision electronically in late April, advising applicants directly via their e-files. Each applicant will be informed of his/her ranking and may print his/her announcement letter. It is strictly prohibited to contact committee members, who must abide by confidentiality rules. The decisions of the board of directors of the FRQNT are final and without appeal. There is no review process. The applicant must accept or refuse the scholarship in the ten (10) business days following the receipt of the offer by filling out the e-form in his/her scholarship holder’s file. Should an applicant fail to accept the award before the deadline, the Fonds will consider that he/she has refused it

The deadline for submission of the preselected applications by universities is September 23rd 2015. Applicants must meet the following criteria to be qualified for consideration:

  • Must meet all eligibility conditions at the closing date of the competition, namely, November 1st, 2015 (a different closing date has to be confirmed for the students preselected by CSC)
  • Must have been preselected by a university, the Réseau Trans-Tech (a CCTT), TERI University, the SER or CONACYT before September 23rd, 2015
  • Those for the Québec-China scholarship program must be preselected by the CSC before March 31st, 2016
  • Applicants must not have already received a Merit Scholarship for Foreign Students from MEESR, FRQNT or Québec Research Fund – Society and Culture (FRQSC)
  • Must not be a Canadian citizen or a permanent resident of Canada
  • Must not have applied for permanent resident status under Canadian immigration law
  • Restriction for programs of study: Double doctoral degree programs are not admissible and Québec-Wallonia scholarship applicants must have studied in a French-language university institution in Belgium at the time they are granted their scholarship
  • Doctoral research (V1, 1B, 1C, 1I, 1M, 1W) scholarship recipients must have a Certificat d’acceptation du Québec (CAQ) issued by the ministère de l’Immigration, de la Diversité et de l’Inclusion du Québec and a student permit issued by the Canadian Consulate valid for the entire duration of their scholarship

  • Doctoral Research Scholarship: valued at $25,000 per year
  • Postdoctoral Fellowship: valued at $35,000 per year for one year non renewable
  • Short-term research or professional development scholarships: valued at $3,000 a month for a period of up to four months.

How to apply

Preselected candidates are assigned a Personal Identification Number (PIN) and a password. They must then complete an e-form to which will be attached the required documents. The E-forms are available only in the secure zone of the FRQNT. They must be completed and sent electronically

The scholarships will be awarded on the basis of following:

  • Excellence of University Record
  • Aptitude for research and relevant research experience
  • Scientific quality and interest of the proposed research project and quality of the research environment

Results are announced by e-mail at the end of March. Candidates can access the letter of announcement in their application e-file. Each candidate is then informed of his/her ranking and can print the letter of announcement.

Note: only candidates preselected by a Québec university, the Réseau Trans-Tech, TERI University, the SRE or the CONACYT as of September 23rd, 2015, can be part of this competition. Candidates to the Québec-China scholarship must be preselected by the CSC as of March 31st, 2016

Scholarship deadline

The deadline for sending scholarship applications is November 1st, 2015, at midnight (coordinated universal time UTC-5 Est time zone) (a different closing date has to be confirmed for the students preselected by the CSC). Files cannot be updated after the closing date for applications. It is suggested to keep a printed copy of your form for your records

University of British Columbia offers this undergraduate award for International Students. To be considered for the award, students must be admissible to the first choice program they are applying. Award-winners receive an award-level commensurate with their financial need as determined by the costs of their tuition, fees and living costs

Scholarship description

The International Leader of Tomorrow Award recognizes International Undergraduate Students who demonstrate superior academic achievement, leadership skills, involvement in student affairs and community service, recognized achievement in fields of endeavour such as the performing arts, sports, debating or creative writing, or external academic competitions and examinations

The International Leader of Tomorrow Award can be renewed for up to three additional years of undergraduate study, or to degree completion, whichever is less, provided the student achieves satisfactory academic standing in their faculty, continues to demonstrate financial need, and maintains their Canadian study permit (visa)

Eligibility

Award candidates must be nominated by their current school or college/university. To be considered for an International Leader of Tomorrow Award, students must meet the following criteria:

  • Be admissible to the first choice program they are applying to, including meeting UBC’s English Language Admission Standard
  • Have an excellent academic record (at least an “A” average or equivalent standard)
  • Be an International Student, who is neither a Canadian citizen nor a permanent resident of Canada, and who will be studying in Canada on a Canadian Study Permit (visa)
  • Demonstrate a level of financial need that would otherwise prevent them from pursuing a UBC degree
  • Be entering a UBC undergraduate degree program from a recognized secondary school, college or other university

Value

International Leader of Tomorrow Award-winners receive an award-level commensurate with their financial need as determined by the costs of their tuition, fees and living costs, minus the financial contribution the student and their family can make annually towards these costs.

A standard needs-assessment is also made, based on financial information provided by students and their families

How to apply

  • Nomination packages must be postmarked byDecember 10, 2015
  • Nominees must also complete the online application for academic admissionto UBC by December 10, 2015 and meet the UBC English Language Admission Requirement by January 31, 2016
  • Although applicants to UBC can specify two program choices in their application for admission, an International Leader of Tomorrow Award nomination will be considered only in relation to the nominee’s first choice program
  • Early application is encouraged, to ensure an application decision can be made in time for nomination consideration

Beneficiaries are selected after a standard needs-assessment is made, based on financial information provided by students and their families

UOIT 2016 Global Leadership Award in Canada for International Students

ontarioApplications are invited from International Secondary School Students currently studying outside of Canada for the University of Ontario Institute of Technology 2016 Global Leadership Award in Canada. The award is valued at $72,000 ($18,000 x 4 years). To qualify for renewal of these awards, students must maintain an average of 80 percent or 3.7 GPA while studying at UOIT on a full-time course load (as per UOIT’s grading scale)

Scholarship description

If you are an international secondary school student entering an undergraduate program at UOIT on a study permit, and are currently studying outside of Canada, you can apply for UOIT’s Global Leadership Award (GLA). The GLA scholarship is one of UOIT’s most prestigious entrance awards. Valued at $72,000 ($18,000 a year for four years), the GLA recognizes international secondary school applicants with strong academic and leadership abilities. Canadian citizens and permanent residents are not eligible for the GLA

Eligibility

Applicants must meet the following criteria to be considered eligible for this award:

  • Nominated by high school
  • Only one candidate per school will be considered for this award
  • An excellent academic record (“A” average OR equivalent grading based on the high school evaluation where the candidate is studying)
  • Personal leadership activities: e.g. excellence in extracurricular activities beyond academic requirements and/or significant contributions to community or family
  • Undergraduate studying towards their first university degree
  • Non-Canadian citizens only and a high school applicant currently studying outside of Canada only
  • Note: If your Canadian immigration status changes, the value of the award will change

Value

The award is valued at $72,000 ($18,000 x 4 years)

How to apply

  • All information must be keyboarded or typed on additional paper, except where noted
  • Handwritten applications will be discarded
  • Submit a maximum of two letters of reference with your application
  • Ensure that the letters are in sealed envelopes that are stamped or signed across the seal by the referee
  • Submit completed applications to the UOIT Registrar’s Office via post
  • Complete the Application Form

The Awards Committee will make selections based on the above qualifications. Successful applicants will be notified by early June

2015 Aspire-Canada Scholarship Programme in Canada

aspire-canada-300x168Application are invited for the 2015 Aspire-Canada Scholarship Programme in Canada. Aspire-Canada offers college scholarships of $1000 or more to outstanding students. These scholarships are available for undergraduate and graduate students enrolled in a full-time program. Students need to submit a scholarship essay in order to be eligible. Only returning students need to submit the scholarship application. All incoming freshman student will be considered for the scholarship automatically based on a completed admissions application

Scholarship description

Aspire-Canada has scholarships for both US, Canadian and International undergraduate and graduate students enrolled in a full-time program. Each academic year, Aspire-Canada offers scholarships of $1000 or more to outstanding students. Applications received after the preferred deadline will only be considered if the funds are available

Eligibility

Students need to submit a scholarship essay on one of the following topics: Careers, Entrepreneurship, Health & Fitness and Fashion & Beauty in order to be eligible

Value

The scholarship has a value of $1000 or more. The best essays will be featured on the Aspire-Canada website
