The Halmstad University is offering a number of scholarships to qualified students from outside the EU/EEA and Switzerland. These scholarships are available to pursue master’s programme within any field of study at Halmstad University for the spring semester

Scholarship description

The Halmstad University is a public higher education institution offering bachelor’s and master’s programmes in various fields of studies. In addition, it conducts Ph.D. programmes in three fields of research, namely, Information Technology, Innovation Science and Health Science. The aim of the university is to strengthen the University’s internationalisation and to recruit as many motivated students to Halmstad University’s education programmes

Eligibility

To meet the entry requirements for master’s level (second cycle or graduate) studies, applicant must:

  • Have been awarded a bachelor’s degree from an internationally recognised university
  • Be able to demonstrate proficiency in English by means of an internationally recognised test e. g. TOEFL, IELTS or the equivalent. Check the course/program description(s) for more information about language requirements
  • Students from outside the EU/EEA and Switzerland can apply for these scholarships

English Language Requirement: If your secondary school qualifications in English are not considered to fulfil this requirement, you must submit the official results from an internationally recognised test such as TOEFL or IELTS.

TOEFL, Paper-based: Score of 4.0 (scale 1-6) in written test, total score: 530
TOEFL, Internet-based: Score of 17 of (scale 0-30) in written test, total score: 72

English B: minimum limits to fulfil the requirement
IELTS, Academic modules: An overall mark of 6.5 and no section below 5.5
TOEFL, Paper-based: Score of 4.5 (scale 1-6) in written test, total score: 575
TOEFL, Internet-based: Score of 20 of (scale 0-30) in written test, total score: 90

All TOEFL test results must be sent straight from the Educational Testing Service (ETS) to University Admissions, the institution code is SWEDEN 3477. Copies are not accepted

Value

The Halmstad University Scholarship covers 25% or 50% of the tuition fee and will be deducted from the tuition fee. The scholarship will not cover living costs and there are no grants for family members

How to apply

International students must send supporting documents directly to University Admissions, after submitting the Application Form. Application must be supported by the following documentation:

  • Certificates and diplomas from previous education at an internationally recognised university
  • Transcripts of completed courses and grades for each semester (including course list)

Eligibility

Scholarship is available to citizens of a country outside the European Economic Area/Switzerland. These scholarships are awarded to highly qualified international students enrolled in master degree study programmes to help cover tuition fees

The Malmö University Master’s Scholarship (MUMS) is for students who:

  • Are citizens of a country outside the European Economic Area/Switzerland and are obliged to pay tuition fees for studies in Sweden
  • Have applied for an English-taught master’s programme at Malmö University through http://www.universityadmissions.se, and
  • Have ranked a programme at Malmö University as first priority in their application for studies

Value

The scholarship will cover 75 to 100 percent of the tuition fee

How to apply

College Admission Requirement: Entrance Requirement: Students apply to Malmo University online through the national website universityadmissions.se. There is no paper application form available and it is not possible to apply directly to Malmö University

Test Requirement: In order to undertake a programme of study here at the University, you will need to demonstrate that a suitable level of English proficiency.

English Language Requirement: Malmö University requires the equivalent of English course B/6 from Swedish secondary school for admission to master’s studies. Depending on educational background, students may be required to submit a TOEFL, IELTS or Cambridge certificate.

Scholarship application must consist of the following three parts:

  • Application Form: Make sure to fill out all required fields. Try to focus your answers towards the questions rather than trying to squeeze in everything you would like us to know about you. After completing the form, print it, sign it, and scan it. The form should be submitted as a PDF document. If you cannot scan and send the document as a PDF, send the completed PDF form without signing it together with a digital photo of the signed form
  • One-page CV: Additional pages will not be considered. Although there is no interview in the selection process, you should be prepared to answer questions about your CV and be able to verify its contents
  • Copy of passport: University requires a copy of the photo page of your passport in order to determine your nationality. Please make sure that the copy is legible to avoid unnecessary obstacles in your application process

2016 Lund University Global Scholarship Programme in Sweden

Applications are invited for the 2016 Lund University Global Scholarship available for the citizens of a country from outside the EU/EEA (and Switzerland). Students must have applied for Bachelor’s or Master’s level studies for a minimum of one semester of study (30 ECTS)

As a top 100 university and ranked in the top 0.4% of universities in the world, Lund University attracts high achieving students from across the globe. The Lund University Global Scholarship programme seeks to recognise these students by awarding academic excellence grants

The scholarship is selective, competitive and merit-based. Scholarship is awarded in all subjects available at Lund University for pursuing Bachelor’s or Master’s level studies at Lund University

Eligibility

To be eligible to apply for a scholarship you must meet all of the following criteria:

  • You must be a citizen of a country from outside the EU/EEA (and Switzerland) and are required to pay a tuition fee
  • You have applied for Bachelor’s or Master’s level studies for a minimum of one semester of study (30 ECTS)

Value

  • Scholarship grants may cover 25%, 50%, 75% or up to 100% of the tuition fee
  • The scholarship percentage awarded depends on budget available to the programme/faculty
  • It has no reflection on the students’ academic level of excellence
  • Please note that scholarships are toward tuition fees only and that living costs are not covered
  • Scholarship recipients must still be able to fund their living costs, as per the requirements of the Swedish Migration Board

How to apply

  • To apply for a Lund University Global Scholarship, you must first apply for the programme(s) or free-standing course(s) you wish to study at Lund University using the online, national application website, during the application period
  • Once you have made a complete application to a degree programme or free-standing courses of at least 30 ECTS credits and paid the application fee, you will receive information about how to apply for the scholarship
  • For autumn 2016 studies, this will be communicated to applicants after the application period to their programmes is over, i.e. in early February
  • As part of this online application, you need to upload your scholarship ‘motivation letter’ (maximum 600 words). Please note that the scholarship “motivation letter” is different from any statement of purpose you may be required to submit as part of your programme application documents
  • Your scholarship personal “motivation letter” should explain why your academic performance and reasons for applying to Lund University make you an appropriate recipient for a Lund University Global Scholarship
  • You can only apply for one Lund University Global Scholarship per programme or free-standing course. However, it is still possible for you to apply to other scholarships, such as (for example) the Swedish Institute scholarships

The selection process for scholarships is undertaken in parallel with the programme/course selection process. Priority will be given to students with high academic performance, who are assessed as a good fit for the programme and who demonstrate a strong commitment and desire to study at Lund University. As the scholarship is merit-based only, no consideration is taken of the students’ financial needs in the selection process

Scholarship description

Umeå University welcomes talented and high-achieving students from outside the EU/EEA. The following scholarships are administered by Umeå University:

  • Umeå University Scholarship
    This is a general scholarship programme offered by Umeå University. Open for students admitted to one of the Master’s study programmes offered
  • Erling-Persson Scholarship
    This scholarship targets students admitted to Master’s in Public Health study programmes at Umeå University
  • Umeå School of Business and Economics (USBE) Scholarship
    This scholarship targets students who are admitted to one of the 6 Master’s level programmes offered by the Umeå School of Business and Economics.

Scholarships are awarded to study all the subjects. As of October 2015, Umeå University has over 100 scholarship recipients studying full-time in various programmes. The Scholarship is awarded for one year at a time and valid for the duration of the programme

Eligibility

Those eligible to apply for these scholarships are:

  • Students applying for a Master’s degree programme at Umeå University
  • Students outside the EU/EEA

Value

Selected candidates receive a full or partial reduction of the tuition fee

2016 Avancez Scholarships for International Students at Chalmers University of Technology, Sweden

Applications are invited for the 2016 Avancez Scholarships for International Students at Chalmers University of Technology, Sweden. The field(s) of study to which the scholarships will be awarded is determined annually by the University President

Scholarship description

Chalmers University of Technology will award a number of scholarships funded by the Chalmers Foundation and these are available to all citizens from non-EU/EEA countries who are liable to pay tuition fees for Swedish university education. The exact number of scholarships is yet to be decided by the Chalmers Foundation

Chalmers University of Technology will award a number of scholarships for 4 semesters/2 year programme

The field(s) of study to which the scholarships will be awarded is determined annually by the University President. For the academic year 2016/17 the field of study is unrestricted, but it will be distributed according to targeted areas of education determined by the university management, based on the total number of applicants per each area of education from previous academic year

Eligibility

Citizens from non-EU/EEA countries who are in their 1st year Master’s programme and are required to pay tuition fees for Swedish University education are eligible for this scholarship

Value

Beneficiaries will get the following

  • A 75% reduction of the tuition fees (4 semesters / 2 year programme)
  • Students who excel during their first year of studies may receive an increased scholarship reduction, which covers 85% of the tuition fee during the second and final year of studies
  • No funds are transferred to the scholarship laureates

How to apply

  • It is obligatory to submit an application for Chalmers’ Master’s Programmes at University Admissions prior to making a scholarship application. Only then will you be able to obtain your individual application number, which must be entered correctly in the scholarship application portal in order for us to obtain information about what Master’s Programmes you have applied to at Chalmers, etc
  • A personal link to the scholarship application portal will be sent to you via email once you have submitted some key information via the link
  • Note! If you do not have all necessary information at hand to complete all steps of the electronic application form, your scholarship application will not be considered
  • The selection is based on the applicants’ relative academic excellence, which primarily includes weighted average grade but also home university’s stature (including position on global ranking lists) and priority order of the application for Chalmers Master’s programmes.

Scholarship notifications will be announced by Chalmers up until mid April
