Scholarships are awarded in all research sectors (health, social sciences, arts and humanities, natural sciences and engineering) preselected by a Québec University, the Trans-Tech Network ( for CCTT), the China Scholarship Council (CSC) and the Secretariat of External Relations of Mexico (SRE) and the National Council of Science and Technology of Mexico (CONACYT) to begin or continue studies or research activities in Quebec. Eligibility

Candidates

  • Must meet all eligibility requirements at the time of contest closing either the 1st November 2016 (date to be confirmed separately for pre-selected students of the CSC)
  • Must have been preselected by a university, the Trans-Tech Network (for CCTT), the SRE or CONACYT on or before September 23, 2016
  • The stock market Québec-China must be pre-selected by the CSC at the latest March 31, 2017
  • Must not have already received a scholarship for foreign students Ministry of Education and Higher Education of Quebec (MEES), the Québec Research Fund – Nature and Technology or the Quebec Research Fund – society and Culture
  • Should not be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident of Canada
  • Must not have applied for permanent residence under the Canadian immigration laws
  • In addition to the conditions mentioned above, the candidate must take note of the restrictions and follow administrative prerequisites:

Restriction for study programs: Candidates for Québec-Wallonie scholarships must have previously studied in a French-speaking Belgian university at the time of receiving the award.

Criteria for the awardees doctoral research (V1, 1B, 1C, 1I, 1M, 1W) are:

  • Be holders of a certificate of acceptance (CAQ) issued by the Department of Immigration, Diversity and Inclusion and a study permit issued by the Canadian Consulate valid throughout the period studies in Quebec.

Holders of a postdoctoral fellowship (V2, 2B, 2C, 2I, 2M) and award of short-term research or professional development (V3, 3B, 3C, 3I, 3M, 3W) must:

  • Be holders of a work permit issued by the Canadian Consulate for the duration of stay in Quebec.

Value

  • Doctoral research scholarships (V1, 1B, 1C, 1I, 1M, 1W): $ 25,000 per year. The maximum duration of this scholarship is three years (nine sessions) with the possibility of extension up to 12 months (monthly allowance of $ 1,000)
  • Postdoctoral Fellowships (V2, 2B, 2C, 2I, 2M): $ 35,000 for one year, non-renewable
  • Scholarship Short-term research or professional development (V3, 3B, 3C, 3I, 3M, 3W): $ 3,000 per month for a period of four months

How to apply

Once shortlisted, the candidate is given a personal identification number (PIN) and a password. He must then fill out an electronic form which will be attached to the required documents on the website of the NRF . Only the e-form in the 2017/2018 competition and other documents required are accepted

2016 Xiamen University Scholarships in China for International Students

Applications are invited for the 2016 Xiamen University Scholarships in China for International Students. Xiamen University offers up to 24 scholarships for Doctoral, Masters and Undergraduate candidates which can help pay their tuition fees and also support them throughout their studies

Scholarship description

Xiamen University has become a first-class comprehensive university in China. It has co-established 15 confucius institutes with universities in North America, Europe and Africa. Xiamen University has 27 schools containing 76 departments and 10 research institutes

The main objective of the university is to provide high quality, comprehensive educational and training opportunities that are compatible to changing needs of the students

In order to enhance its internationalization, XMU has launched a lot of English-medium programmes for international students. These programmes are taught in English and aim to produce high-level international specialists with a solid professional foundation plus a good understanding of the Chinese society and culture

Eligibility

Applicants must meet all of the following criteria to be eligible to apply for this scholarship:

  • Applicants must be non-Chinese citizens in good health
  • Educational background and age limits:
  • Applicants for bachelor’s degree studies must have a high school diploma and be under the age of 25
  • Applicants for master’s degree studies must have a bachelor’s degree and be under the age of 40
  • Applicants for doctoral degree studies must have a master’s degree and be under the age of 45

Language Requirements: (a) Chinese proficiency requirements: Applicants for programs in the humanities, economics, management, law, arts and traditional Chinese medicine need to have a Chinese proficiency certificate of new HSK band 5 with 210 scores or above; applicants for programs in sciences, engineering and medicine should have a certificate of new HSK band 4 with 210 scores or above. Students who have taken courses mainly in Chinese during their previous studies are exempt from the HSK certificate requirement, provided that they can produce proof of language of instruction used in their previous l studies.

(b) English proficiency requirements: Applicants should present a TOEFL certificate with 80 points or above, or an IELTS certificate with grade 6.0 or above, or another certificate of English proficiency from an accredited test. Native English speakers and applicants who have taken courses in English during their previous studies are exempt from this requirement, but a medium-of-instruction certificate should be furnished

Value

  • The first-class scholarships for doctoral and master’s candidates will have their tuitions covered (a maximum of 4 years for doctoral programmes, 2-3 years for master’s programmes) and offer monthly living allowance (RMB 3,500 for each doctoral student; RMB 3,000 for each master’s student). Undergraduate candidates will not be provided with the first-class scholarship
  • The second-class scholarships will have the awardees’ tuitions covered (a maximum of 4 years for doctoral programmes, 2-3 years for master’s programmes,  4-5 years for undergraduate programmes)

How to apply

Applicants are eligible for scholarship assessment only after they are admitted to the undergraduate, masters or doctoral programme of Xiamen University.  Applicants are required to make online application and then download and print out the Application Form for International Students generated upon successful online application
Note: Applicants can fill in and print out the Application Form for XMU Scholarship and Send by post to XMU Admissions Office by 30 April 2016 the two forms and other required documents.

  • A self-introduction video clip. The video clip should be five to ten minutes long and include your self–introduction and a description of your hobby, extra-curricular activities, your view of China and Xiamen University, their study plan in China. The introduction should be delivered in Chinese. Applicants for MBBS?program are expected to deliver it in English. How to submit: Compress and save the video clip in the rar. format, and then submit it in online application. Alternatively, save it in a disk (or USB Flash Disk) and post it with other required application documents to the Admissions Office of Xiamen University. Mark the applicant’s name and nationality on the disk
  • A letter of recommendation in Chinese or English from applicants’ high school
  • Personal statement (minimum 800 words) in Chinese, which should include a self-introduction, a description of educational experience, their motivations for studying in China and their study plan. Applicants for MBBS program are expected to deliver it in English
  • A photocopy of their valid passport. Note: Applicants to whom the note to the first item of the Eligibility section applies, should submit a photocopy of their valid passports which they have held for at least four years or certificate of naturalization, as well as a photocopy of the entry and exit stamps in their passports showing that they have resided in a foreign country for at least two years in the last four years

  • A completed “Application for Trent International Global Citizen Scholarships and Awards” form
  • An essay in which applicants outline their academic aspirations and future career goals and how Trent University can help them in achieving these goals (guideline: no longer than 1 page, range of words 300-500)
  • A detailed record of their service and leadership, and an essay indicating how their service or leadership has been a meaningful part of their education
  • Note: The committee is most interested in specific examples of their accomplishments. (guideline: list of activities in a bullet or table format; essay – no longer than 1 page, range of words 300-500). An essay discussing a local, national or international issue and its personal importance to them (no longer than 1 page; range of words 350-500)
  • Three letters of reference, including at least two from teachers/former teachers. 2016/2017 Romanian Government Scholarships for Foreign Students

Applications are invited for the 2016/2017 Romanian Government Scholarships for Foreign Students. These scholarships are available for citizens of non EU countries

Scholarship description

These scholarships are offered through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in keeping with Government Decision No 288/1993 for the 2016/2017 academic year. 85 scholarships for under- and post-graduate studies in Romania, by means of selection of application files organised by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) and the Ministry of National Education (MNE), in keeping with Romanian current legislation will be awarded this year. Citizens of non EU countries (irrespective of their country of residence) are eligible for these scholarships

The scholarships are granted for three levels of study:

  • For the first cycle (licenta):This scheme is dedicated to graduates of high schools or of equivalent pre-university systems, as well as to candidates who require the equivalent of partial studies and the continuation of their studies in Romania. The complete cycle of university studies lasts for 3 to 6 years, according to the specific requirements of the chosen faculty, and ends with a final examination (licenta)
  • For the 2nd cycle (master):This scheme is dedicated to graduates of university/post graduate studies; it lasts for 1,5 to 2 years and ends with a dissertation
  • For the 3rd cycle (doctorate):This scheme is dedicated to the graduates of university/postgraduate studies (i.e. master); it lasts for 3-4 years, in keeping with the specific requirements of the chosen faculty, and ends with a doctor’s thesis

Priority fields: priority will be given to the candidates applying for: Political and Administrative Sciences, Education Studies, Romanian Culture and Civilization, Journalism, Technical Studies, Oil and Gas, Agricultural Studies, Veterinary Medicine, Architecture, Music, Arts

Eligibility

  • All citizens of non EU countries (irrespective of their country of residence)
  • Priority is given to citizens from non EU states with which Romania does not have cultural and education cooperation agreements
  • Mention should be made that foreign citizens of Romanian origin and those belonging to the neighbouring historic Romanian communities benefit from other scholarship programmes offered by the Romanian state

Language of Study: In order to promote Romanian language and culture, the Ministry of National Education has decided that the beneficiaries of the scholarships should study only in the Romanian language. The candidates who do not know Romanian are offered one supplementary preparatory year to study the language. The students who declare that they know already Romanian language have to pass a language test organized by the competent higher education institutions

Value

The scholarship consists of the following:

  • Free-of-charge tuition
  • Free-of-charge accommodation(depending on availability, accommodation will be offered free-of-charge in students hostels, in keeping with the higher education regulations and within the limits of the sums available for this purpose)
  • Financial support– a monthly amount representing : the equivalent in Romanian currency of 65 EURO per month, for the under-graduate students (1st cycle), the equivalent in Romanian currency of 75 EURO per month, for post-graduate students (master degrees and specialization) 2nd cycle, RI737126839CN the equivalent in Romanian currency of 85 EURO per month, for post graduate students (doctor’s degree) 3rd cycle
  • These scholarships do not cover food, international and local transport. The candidates must be prepared to support personally any other additional expenses

The monthly amount mentioned above is granted to the students of the 1st (licenta) and 2nd (master) cycle throughout the whole academic year, the winter and spring vacation included, but not during the summer vacation. For full-time students of the 3rd cycle (doctorate), the monthly amount is granted throughout the whole calendar year

Important for all scholarship holders (under and post-graduate): The scholarships will be suspended if the student in any education cycle repeats a year due to poor results. It may be resumed in the following academic year, after the student has successfully graduated the repeated year. The students who repeat an academic year must pay the full study fees and accommodation

How to apply

To get all the necessary information about the scholarships (conditions, necessary documents, enrolment calendar) and to submit their application files, the candidates should apply directly to:

  • The Romanian diplomatic missions accredited to the candidate’s country of origin or of residence or to
  • The diplomatic mission of candidate’s state of origin accredited to Bucharest
  • Application files submitted by post or directly to the MFA or to the MECS, as well as application files received after the announced deadline will not be taken into consideration
  • Applications files should contain documents in English or French language
  • If the application files contain documents in other foreign languages than English or French, they must be accompanied by authorized translations in one of the following languages: Romanian, English or French. Generally, Romanian universities may require that all enrolment documents should be accompanied by authorized copies and authorized translations in Romanian. It is of utmost importance to fill in correctly all forms

NOTE: MFA – PCSDD checks the application files and submits the valid candidatures to the MFA Selection Board. The files selected by this Board will be sent to the MNE Selection Board. The Boards will approve the list of 85 accepted candidates and a waiting list, in case any selected candidates gives up the scholarship

The selection results will be announced by 25 June, 2016 to each diplomatic mission that submitted application files

The Ampère Scholarships of Excellence of the ENS de Lyon provide students with the opportunity to enrol in one of the ENS de Lyon Masters programs in the Exact Sciences, the Arts or the Human and Social Sciences (excluding the Professional Masters programs in teaching)

The scholarship awards are for duration of 12 months. Scholarships are open for foreign students

Eligibility

Masters Years 1 or 2 (M1, M2)

  • Candidate for admission in Masters Year 1: provide proof that you have obtained a Licence (equivalent to 180 ECTS European credits) or an equivalent diploma/level recognized by the ENS de Lyon
  • Candidate for admission in Masters Year 2: provide proof that you have successfully reached Masters Year 1 level (equivalent to 240 ECTS European credits) or have attained an equivalent diploma/level recognized by the ENS de Lyon (e.g. MPhil)

Value

A total of 1000€/month will be awarded

The results will only be available on the internet site. If your application is accepted, you will receive a letter of pre-enrolment and the procedures to be followed for enrolment. Students coming from a country with CEF procedure, you shall receive afterwards instructions in order to register via Campus France. Furthermore, ENS de Lyon shall inform Campus France directly too

Scholarship description

The purpose of this program is to promote academic excellence by offering scholarships to foreign students who are citizens of an African or European country (other than France) and are admitted to a master’s program at University Laval.   • You graduated from a public university accredited by the ministry of higher education in your country of origin. For private institutions, eligibility is determined when the file is reviewed
  • You are registered full time for the first two semesters in the program of study for which the scholarship was granted (winter 2015 and summer 2015)

This is a scholarship of $7,000 per year and renewable once, subject to compliance with the faculty’s criteria of excellence and upon the research director’s recommendation and faculty approval

How to apply

There is no form to complete for master’s level scholarships. Scholarships are automatically1 awarded to candidates admitted to a master’s program. Recipients are selected using information from admission applications received by University Laval. To be considered, candidates must apply for admission by September 15, 2015

The Registrar’s Office considers the average available when the application is reviewed

Scholarship description

The selection criteria might be rigorous, however, all successful applicants will be awarded scholarships. Starting from the 2015/2016 academic year, all successful applicants will receive 50% scholarships from the University Board of Trustees. 20% of accepted students receive scholarships which are awarded in the department of Turkish Language and Literature, Civilization Studies, History, History of Science, Clinical Psychology- thesis Islamic, Clinical Psychology – non thesis, Islamic Sciences, Architecture, Architectural Conservation –Restoration and Traditional Turkish Arts

Eligibility

Candidates must meet the following conditions in order to be admitted as graduate students at Fatih Sultan Mehmet Vakif University:

  • Must be a foreign national
  • Master’s candidates must have an undergraduate degree, while Doctorate and Proficiency and Art candidates must have Master’s degrees
  • Must not be a citizen of Turkey or the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (or have a dual citizenship right of either country or for the ones who had dual citizenship but abolished either one not to have completed all high school education in Turkey or TRNC)
  • Must not have been dismissed from a higher education institute in Turkey despite meeting all other above mentioned requirements
  • Minimum Diploma GPA Conditions: Out of 100 points: for Master’s applicants their undergraduate diploma GPA’s must be a minimum of 65; for Doctorate and Proficiency in Art applicants their undergraduate GPA’s must be a minimum of 65 (75 if they do not have Master’s degrees) and their Master’s GPA’s must be a minimum of 75
  • Ales Conditions: For Institute of Engineering and Sciences: Master’s applicants must obtain a minimum of 55 and Doctorate applicants must obtain a minimum of 60 points in ALES (or GRE Math score of 610); Applicants who fail to provide an ALES/GRE score may be accepted on a conditional basis; the student must either provide the necessary ALES/GRE scores or achieve a minimum GPA of 3.0 (out of 4.0) by the end of the first semester
  • Language Conditions: For Scholarship applicants, students must provide proof of proficiency in a foreign language that is different than their mother language and the language of education
  • Arabic: For Islamic Studies (MA and PhD) Arabic language skill is preferred.

Value

Successful applicants will receive 50% scholarships from the University Board of Trustees. Full scholarships will be awarded for master and PhD programs in Civilization Studies; Master’s/Doctorate program in Islamic Sciences and for Master’s program in History of Science

How to apply

If you’re a doctoral student applying for scholarships, you should also submit an Application for Admission (AfA). This online form enables you to be assessed for entry to your chosen doctoral programme. If suitable supervisors are available and all of the University’s entry requirements are met, you are then offered a place in the programme to study a topic of your choice. The process can take several weeks, so you should submit an AfA in your early stages of planning. All new scholarship applicants for the University of Auckland Doctoral Scholarship must use the online form; paper-based applications will not be accepted

Applications are invited for the 2015 International Students’ Scholarships at Hochschule Hof, Germany. This scholarships are awarded by the Bavarian Ministry of Science, Research and the Arts, Hochschule Hof to qualified foreign students for winter semester 2015/2016. These scholarships are available for full-time students or double-degree students on the basis of financial need.

Scholarship description

Under the condition of reception of financial means from the Bavarian Ministry of Science, Research and the Arts (Bayerische Staatsministerium für Bildung und Kultus, Wissenschaft und Kunst), Hochschule Hof gives semester or yearly scholarships to qualified foreign students in need for the summer semester 2015 and/ or winter semester 2015/16. The scholarships shall provide financial support for foreign students to cover extra costs for living and study materials during their studies at Hochschule Hof.

Eligibility

Applicants must fulfill the following requirements:

  • International students must be enrolled as full-time students or double-degree students (not possible for exchange students) at the Hochschule Hof for the respective semester (summer semester 2015 or winter semester 2015/16)
  • International students must be academically (previous examination performance) and personally qualified. Foreign students enrolled in Bachelor courses must have achieved a minimum of 90 ECTS to be eligible. Please attach proof
  • International students in financial need. Hochschule Hof may at any time ask for proof of given information. Students receiving any additional public funding (e.g. BAföG, DAAD, Erasmus, any kind of governmental scholarship) for the same period of time cannot be considered and are exempted from this scholarship!
    Please note: “Bildungsinländer”, which means foreign students holding a German university entrance qualification (e.g. Abitur, Fachabitur) must present a written confirmation following §8 of the BAföG-law, that they are not eligible for BaföG funding.

Value

The scholarship depends on the financial means provided available for the respective semester. It lies between 100,00 € – 659,00 € per month. The scholarships shall provide financial support for foreign students to cover extra costs for living and study materials during their studies at Hochschule Hof
