Applications are invited for the 2016 Fully-Funded MBA Scholarships in Business School Netherlands (BSN), Netherlands. These scholarships are funded through the Netherlands Fellowship Programmes (NFP)

Scholarship description

The NFP is initiated and fully funded by the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs from the budget for development cooperation. Business School Netherlands is proud to be one of the Dutch institutions offering NFP-qualified courses to managers and trainee managers who are looking to tackle the food security issues within in their country. The funding for this MBA Scholarship, better known as the Netherlands Fellowship Programme (NFP), is made available through Nuffic the Governmental body responsible for the promotion of the Dutch Higher Education system worldwide

NFP is a full (100%) MBA Scholarship programme designed to foster institutional development within certain parts of the world. Applicants to certain academic and short courses of Dutch higher education institutions apply for the fellowship to cover the cost of tuition fees, accommodation and international travel for study

Business School Netherlands (BSN), the Action Learning business school, is now open for applicants wanting to study an International MBA with a focus on food security. Eligible applicants living in one of the 51 NFP countries and working in Government, Semi-Government, small-medium organisations and local community NGO’s are invited to apply for the International Action Learning MBA with a Major in Food Security programme until 22 July 2016

This English part-time, blended learning MBA programme, allows for a very practical approach to educating business leaders of the future. The International Action Learning MBA is designed for working professionals in the food security/agriculture/farming sectors who are interested in finding solutions to current management issues within their own organisations whilst achieving personal enrichment and great ROI

Approximately, 1000 courses (Masters and Short Courses) are offered each year through the NFP scholarship whereby 20,000 applications are received. 7,000 nominations are processed and then assessed by the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Dutch embassies, rounding up a final 2,000 candidates who are selected from the various Dutch institutions, BSN being one of the chosen institutes. In doing so, skilled managers and senior professional in the 51 NFP countries are enabled to drive change and improvement in their countries

Eligibility

The following are the eligibility criteria for these scholarships:

  • Mid-career professionals in employment
  • Only the individual applicant can apply for funding
  • The training must occur within the context of the organisation with which the applicant works
  • The training must be seen to help the organisation in its development strategies
  • Employer support is essential

Note: while fellowships are awarded to individuals, the need for training must occur within the context of the organization for which an applicant works. The training must help the organization to develop its capacity. This means that applicants must be nominated by their employers. In fact, an application without the support of an employer will not be considered

Priorities

Half of the available funding from the NFP budget should be spent on fellowships for female candidates and for candidates from sub-Saharan Africa. Apart from this, priority is given to candidates from deprived groups and/or from marginalized regions.

Additionally, the overall objective is to spend 35% of the budget on grants and study programmes in food security and private sector development

  • Applicants will first need to make application with BSN for the International Action Learning MBA with a Major in Food Security and ensure that they meet all the entry requirements of this programme
  • Priority focus is given to applicants who live and work in Sub-Saharan Africa, work within the food security/agriculture/farming sectors as well as female applicants

Currently International MBA candidates from within the following countries are eligible to apply for funding through the Dutch Embassy or Consulate within their country

  • For non-English speakers a TOEFL or IELTS language test is required. The minimum pass mark for TOEFL is 550 (paper); 213 (computer) or 80 (internet) and IELTS 6.0. Exemptions can be considered should your mother tongue be English and you have successfully completed your degree in English.

2015 Fully-funded PhD Scholarship at Nottingham Trent University, UK

The School of Social Sciences of the Nottingham Trent University, UK is inviting applications for her 2015 fully-funded PhD Scholarship. The International Water Centre (IWC) scholarships are available for high calibre international and domestic candidates. Up to 6 full scholarships will be awarded for enrolling in the Master of Integrated Water Management (MIWM) program at University of Queensland commencing in Semester 1, 2016.

Scholarship description

The International Water Centre (IWC) Masters Scholarships are prestigious scholarships awarded annually to high calibre candidates accepted into the Master of Integrated Water Management (MIWM) and who clearly demonstrate potential to become water leaders of the future. IWC is offering the following scholarships to study the MIWM program commencing in Semester 1, 2016:

  • International Scholarships:Up to two full tuition and full living costs scholarships are available for future water leaders from developing countries in Asia-Pacific, Africa, South and Central America, the Caribbean, Europe and the Middle-East. One full tuition scholarship for a future water leader from North America, Europe, the Middle East or Asia
  • Domestic scholarships:Up to two IWC scholarships (tuition fees) funded by IWC are available. These will be available for Australian citizens, Australian permanent residents or New Zealand citizens who meet the minimum eligibility requirements.

Total of 5 IWC scholarships will be awarded as follows: up to 3 international scholarships and up to 2 domestic scholarships. The duration of the program is as follows:

  • For international scholarships: the MIWM program must be completed within a maximum of three consecutive semesters of full-time study (18 months). Recipients are required to complete the program within the duration specified in the Confirmation of Enrolment (CoE)
  • For domestic scholarships: the MIWM program must be completed within a maximum of three consecutive semesters of full-time study (18 months) or six consecutive semesters of part-time/distance study (3 years).

Note: All scholarships are awarded on the basis that Recipients maintain an enrolled status in their course of study. Requests for extensions to the period of study or temporary suspension of the scholarship may be granted under exceptional circumstances and must be made in writing to IWC for review on a case-by-case basis. These IWC scholarships include both International and Domestic Scholarships. The international scholarships further consist of two types of scholarships i.e. Full tuition and full living costs scholarships and one full tuition scholarshipSuccessful candidates will be selected on a merit-basis

How to apply

All applications for these scholarships are done online. In addition, all scholarship candidates are also required to submit a separate application for admission in the MIWM program to The University of Queensland (UQ) before or soon after submitting a scholarship application form – and at the latest, by the application deadline. Successful scholarships recipients possess an excellent academic record and several years of relevant professional experience. The Selection Panel uses the following selection criteria when assessing your scholarship application:

  • Academic record: an excellent academic record and a likelihood of success in further study
  • Professional and volunteering record: relevant employment or volunteering experience, achievements, membership of professional bodies and professional references
  • Commitment to promoting and driving the implementation of collaborative, whole-of-water-cycle, integrated and interdisciplinary approaches to water management
  • Leadership qualities including collaboration and team work, flexibility, initiative, communication skills, integrity and vision through professional, educational, community and other achievements
  • Potential outcomes: the likelihood of positive impacts on the individual and the water sector from participating in the MIWM program
  • The Selection Panel will look at the answers you provided in the scholarship application form (‘Selection Criteria Statement’) as well as your CV and referees. The Selection Panel adheres to IWC’s policy of non-discrimination for this process.

Successful international recipients will be notified by 18 August, 2015 and successful domestic recipients by 19 October 2015. Successful Recipients will be informed of the value of their scholarship and what it covers in their scholarship offer letter from IWC

2015 LJMU Roscoe International Scholarships for master Students in the UK

2015 Fully-funded PhD Scholarship on National Human Rights System in Developing Countries

The Faculty of Law at the University of Copenhagen and the Danish Institute for Human Rights are offering fully funded PhD Scholarship on National Human Rights Systems in developing countries.

Scholarship description

The Faculty of Law at the University of Copenhagen and the Danish Institute for Human Rights are looking for a PhD candidate to examine the mandate, the roles and the practices of state actors in relation to international human rights standards and systems in developing countries, ideally DIHR partner countries and/or DANIDA priority countries. The PhD project shall document (selected aspects of) the mandate and the roles played by state actors, and analyse the challenges and opportunities they face, the interaction between different state actors, as well as the relationship to supranational human rights mechanisms. The duration of this PhD programme is three-years.

The PhD project should focus on one or several of the actors below:

  • The national human rights institutions (human rights commission or institute, ombudsman, etc.)
  • The relevant governmental agencies (ministries, governmental human rights focal points, etc.)
  • The courts and tribunals, including the prosecution service
  • The Parliament (and especially its human rights committee, if any)
  • Law enforcement and security actors (penitentiary, police, military)

Eligibility

  • Applicants must have obtained a degree that corresponds to the Danish Master of Laws or equivalent qualifications
  • Applicants must have obtained a minimum overall grade average of 8.2 or above at the Master’s level in accordance with the Danish grading scale
  • Applicants may submit their application before they have completed their Master’s Degree, however, they should have submitted the final evaluation for their course before 1 June 2015
  • Applicants must document an aptitude for research through the meritorious assessment of their final thesis, publications or academic recommendations in order to show that they are capable of undertaking the demanding task of writing a PhD thesis
  • Applicants whose native language is not English must document proficiency in English by having passed one of the recognised language tests. For IELTS a minimum score of 6.5 is required. For TOEFL a minimum score of 90 (internet-based) or 231 (computer-based) is required.
  • Applicants who have obtained a university degree in a country in which English is the official language (Australia, USA, UK, Ireland, New Zealand and Canada), and applicants holding a Master’s Degree from one of the Nordic universities are not required to submit proof of English proficiency.

The Centre for Service Excellence (CSE) is an inter-disciplinary research and engagement centre within the University of Edinburgh Business School. Component disciplines of the Centre include: accounting and finance, entrepreneurship and innovation, management science, marketing, organization studies and HRM, public management, and strategic management and leadership.

The Masdar Institute encourages aspiring young entrepreneurs to apply for the BP Innovation Scholarship, for which two students are selected each year. This is a fully-funded merit-based scholarship leading to a Master’s degree in one of Masdar Institute’s eight engineering concentrations. Scholarship recipients focus on research and planning for a new sustainable technology business based either on their own ideas or ideas they adopt at the Institute. When possible, BP Innovation Scholars are encouraged to participate in forming a start-up company before graduation. Based on a review of the business plan, a grant or other financial support toward the cost of forming a new company may also be awarded.

Eligibility

Candidates must have the following to be eligible for consideration for this scholarship

  • A relevant undergraduate degree in the fields of Science, Engineering or Information Technology
  • A minimum CGPA of 3.0 (on a scale of 4.0) or equivalent (2nd class upper in the British system)
  • A minimum GRE Quantitative score of 155 (700 on the old scale)
  • A minimum TOEFL score of 91 (Internet based) or equivalent paper/computer based TOEFL, or a minimum academic IELTS score of 6.5.
  • Note that high grades and scores are a prerequisite but are not guarantee of admission. Admission standards are in accordance with those of MIT. Graduates from native English speaking countries (e.g. USA, UK, Australia, etc.) may get a waiver for the TOEFL/IELTS requirements.

    Academically strong applicants who do not have the GRE test may be evaluated for admission. If admitted, they will then be required to take placement exams and/or additional 400-level courses.

2015 Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS) National Outreach Programme (NOP) Scholarships

The Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS) invites applications for the 2015 National Outreach Programme (NOP) Scholarships. The scholarships are provided by the Lahore University of Management SciencesPakistan.

Scholarships description

LUMS launched its National Outreach Programme (NOP) in 2001 to extend the benefits of world-class education to talented students all over Pakistan and thereby become a truly national university. This prestigious scholarship programme focuses on identifying bright students with exceptional Matriculation and FA/FSc results and inducting them into the LUMS Undergraduate Programmes. The scholars that qualify as NOP are given full financial assistance. LUMS is very proud of its NOP scholars: more than 500 have entered as LUMS students until now, of which nearly 150 have already graduated.

There is no specified admission quota for National Outreach Programme (NOP) candidates. All candidates who fulfil NOP eligibility criteria and qualify on LUMS merit are offered admission into the Undergraduate Programme through NOP Scholarship. Moreover, the NOP does not have any provincial or city based quota. That is, a student coming from any part of the country can make it to LUMS as long as that particular student is meeting LUMS admission criteria.

Scholarships are awarded within the following four schools in LUMS:

  • Suleman Dawood School of Business (Accounting and Finance, Management Science)
  • Mushtaq Ahmad Gurmani School of Humanities & Social Sciences (MGSHSS) (Economics, Economics & Politics, Anthropology / Sociology and Political Science, English and History)

Scholarship is available for pursuing undergraduate degree (BS, BSc (Honours) and BA (Honours) degrees as well as a five-year BA-LLB degree) at Lahore University of Management Sciences.

Eligibility

To be eligible for this scholarship;

  • Applicants should have at least 80% marks in Matric in order to apply for the NOP scholarship.
  • Moreover, NOP is a need based scholarship.
  • Only genuinely financially deserving students will be considered for the programme.
  • High performance in Matriculation examination
  • Demonstrated need for financial assistance.

Applicants should apply to this programme after clearing their Matriculation exam (at least 80% marks in matriculation) while they are enrolled in the first year of Intermediate/A’ Level. Hence, the students of Intermediate Part I & II are eligible to apply. After being selected, the students are coached and registered for the entrance test, fully funded by LUMS. Finally, the students who apply to LUMS and qualify on merit are offered admission on full scholarship.

LUMS will provide full scholarship. Full scholarship will cover the following:

  • Tuition
  • Registration
  • Hostel accommodation
  • Living and books allowance to candidates who qualify for admissions through the National Outreach Programme.

How to apply

The applicants need to submit their National Outreach Programme (NOP) application forms along with required supporting documents via post after receiving their matriculation results. The candidates are shortlisted on the basis of their performance in the orientation session and are registered for the LUMS admission test. The application forms for Undergraduate Programmes are provided online, free of cost. The forms are filled and submitted online. The Financial Aid form is included in the online application.

NOP is a need based scholarship. Only those students who can establish their eligibility as a genuinely deserving candidate will be considered. Top candidates shortlisted on the basis of merit and need for financial assistance are called in for a ten day orientation session at LUMS. They are tested through different exercises and tests. Students are tested at the beginning, mid review and given a final test during their orientation session. It should be noted that punctuality and attendance are also taken into account. If shortlisted on the basis of their performance in the coaching session, students are asked to registered for LUMS Test. Finally, the students who apply to LUMS and qualify on merit are offered admission on full scholarship.

This orientation session is arranged during summer vacations (July & August) every year. All expenses with regards to the boarding, lodging and coaching materials are borne by LUMS. However students must bare all transportation costs to and from LUMS. Selection decisions will be mailed in June – July 2015.
