Quest University, Canada is Canada’s first independent, not-for-profit, secular university. Quest offers only one degree, a Bachelor of Arts and Sciences, and focuses entirely on excellence in undergraduate education. Quest University Canada’s aim is to prepare students for the challenges of the 21st century. Eligibility Criteria

The Quest program is rigorous, and an important criterion for a scholarship award is the applicant’s academic record. Applicants whose native language is not English are required to submit the results of a TOEFL (Test of English as Foreign Language) or IELTS (International English Language Testing System) taken within the past two years.

Note: All students, regardless of their country of origin, are eligible to apply for scholarships and/or financial aid. All Quest Scholarships are considered entrance awards and cannot be applied for after the application deadline leading to your first year at Quest

How to apply

  • images.pngScholarship applications can be submitted at any time before the relevant deadline but will not be reviewed until the deadline. All application materials submitted for admission will be considered during the candidate’s scholarship award review
  • Students wishing to apply for scholarships must complete the Scholarship Application Form and submit a résumé, along with two recommendation letters. Your résumé should clearly outline your experiences and achievements. This may include employment, volunteer work, gap year projects, awards, hobbies, skills and so on
  • They ask that one letter of recommendation be an academic reference, and one is a character reference. We will consider up to a maximum of four letters of recommendation. If students send more, it is at the discretion of the admissions committee which four will be considered. Letters must be submitted as PDF files, signed and written on official letterhead, or be sent directly from the person writing them. Letters that do not meet these criteria will not be considered
  • Students applying for the David Strangway Award for Excellence must also submit a maximum 300-word personal introduction to the Faculty Selection Committee. All documents must be submitted in a package together before the March 1 deadline
  • The Scholarship Review Committee will evaluate each student’s application for financial awards (scholarship and/or aid) only once. After an award package has been offered, no other financial awards applications will be accepted
  • Applicants must fill the Application Form

Candidates

  • Must meet all eligibility requirements at the time of contest closing either the 1st November 2016 (date to be confirmed separately for pre-selected students of the CSC)
  • Must have been preselected by a university, the Trans-Tech Network (for CCTT), the SRE or CONACYT on or before September 23, 2016
  • The stock market Québec-China must be pre-selected by the CSC at the latest March 31, 2017
  • Must not have already received a scholarship for foreign students Ministry of Education and Higher Education of Quebec (MEES), the Québec Research Fund – Nature and Technology or the Quebec Research Fund – society and Culture
  • Should not be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident of Canada
  • Must not have applied for permanent residence under the Canadian immigration laws
  • In addition to the conditions mentioned above, the candidate must take note of the restrictions and follow administrative prerequisites:

Restriction for study programs: Candidates for Québec-Wallonie scholarships must have previously studied in a French-speaking Belgian university at the time of receiving the award.

Criteria for the awardees doctoral research (V1, 1B, 1C, 1I, 1M, 1W) are:

  • Be holders of a certificate of acceptance (CAQ) issued by the Department of Immigration, Diversity and Inclusion and a study permit issued by the Canadian Consulate valid throughout the period studies in Quebec.

Holders of a postdoctoral fellowship (V2, 2B, 2C, 2I, 2M) and award of short-term research or professional development (V3, 3B, 3C, 3I, 3M, 3W) must:

  • Be holders of a work permit issued by the Canadian Consulate for the duration of stay in Quebec.

Value

  • Doctoral research scholarships (V1, 1B, 1C, 1I, 1M, 1W): $ 25,000 per year. The maximum duration of this scholarship is three years (nine sessions) with the possibility of extension up to 12 months (monthly allowance of $ 1,000)
  • Postdoctoral Fellowships (V2, 2B, 2C, 2I, 2M): $ 35,000 for one year, non-renewable
  • Scholarship Short-term research or professional development (V3, 3B, 3C, 3I, 3M, 3W): $ 3,000 per month for a period of four months

Once shortlisted, the candidate is given a personal identification number (PIN) and a password. He must then fill out an electronic form which will be attached to the required documents on the website of the NRF . Only the e-form in the 2017/2018 competition and other documents required are accepted

A feature of the COFUND program is the possibility to spend up to 12 months of the Fellowship contract at another institute, provided that the work still corresponds to the original project at CERN

Eligibility

The following criteria must be met in order for applicants to be eligible for this fellowship program:

  • You must have an MSc level diploma or above with no more than 10 years relevant experience
  • You are a national of a CERN Member State. However, a limited number of positions are also available to young scientists from the Non-Member States with a senior profile
  • You have graduated or are about to graduate with a university degree (BSc level or above) or a technical engineer qualification. NB: Applicants who are currently preparing a diploma are eligible to apply. However, they are expected to have obtained their qualification by the time they take up their appointment at CERN
  • Either, you have an MSc level diploma or above with no more than 10 years relevant experience or you have only a BSc or a technical engineer diploma with no more than 4 years relevant experience
  • If applying in experimental or theoretical physics fields, you have a Ph.D. or are about to finish your thesis
  • Non-Member State candidates seeking a postdoc in Theoretical Physics should apply for the Non-Member State Postdoc Fellowship Programme (Theoretical Physics)

There are two levels of Fellowship within the program:

  • The Senior Fellowship Programme addressed to people with a Ph.D. or at least four years of experience after the degree which gives access to doctoral programs. In both cases, a maximum of ten years of experience after the degree which gives access to doctoral programs applies
  • The Junior Fellowship Programme, for holders of at least a Technical Engineer degree (or equivalent) and at most an M.Sc. degree (or equivalent) with not more than 4 years of experience. Please note that the Junior Fellowship program is only open to nationals of CERN Member States
  • CERN Staff members are not eligible to apply for a Fellowship. Individuals who have held a VIA contract are not eligible to apply for a Fellowship
  • Please note that a person may only benefit from Fellow status at CERN for a maximum of 36 months. There is no possibility of exceptions
  • The minimum duration of a Fellow contract is 6 months
  • Applicants from all around the world are eligible to apply for this fellowship programme
  • English language Requirements: Applicants from outside the home country will often need to meet specific English language/other language requirements in order to be able to study there

Value

Fellowship awards the following:

  • Stipend range: 5165 CHF to 8043 CHF per month (stipends are calculated individually, are competitive and net of tax)
  • Contract duration is 6 months to three years, typical duration is two years. It can be exceptionally possible to extend for all or part of a 3rd year
  • Travel expenses at the beginning and end of the contract (depending on individual circumstances)
  • Installation indemnity (depending on individual circumstances)

The Education Exchanges Support Foundation (hereinafter – “the Foundation”) is a national agency entrusted with the administration of Erasmus+ and Lifelong Learning programmes and other initiatives funded by the European Commission (EC) and the Government of the Republic of Lithuania in the field of education and vocational training, which has been successfully operating since 2007. The foundation helps to disseminate the idea of lifelong learning and provide everyone with the opportunity to acquire international experience

The foundation provides modern educational and research environments that will enable students and researchers to face current challenges and to focus on knowledge as a principle driving force for development. Scholarships are awarded in all subjects

Eligibility

The following criteria must be met in order for applicants to be eligible for these scholarships:

  • Candidate must be a national of one of the following countries: Republic of Belarus, Republic of Georgia, Republic of Moldova, Republic of Ukraine, Republic of Armenia, Republic of Azerbaijan, Republic of Kazakhstan, Republic of Uzbekistan and People’s Republic of China or a foreigner of Lithuanian origin (other than citizens of the European Union member states, and European Economic Area member states)

Value

All approved candidates will receive a monthly scholarship of 380 Euros for the whole duration of the studies. The benefit to cover the study price will be offered only for the nationals from Republic of Belarus, Republic of Georgia, Republic of Moldova, Republic of Ukraine, and foreign citizens of the Lithuanian origin

How to apply

Applications must be submitted to the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Lithuania in person no later than July 10, 2016, by mail (Egle.Fiseraite-at-smm.lt) or by the diplomatic representation of the Republic of Lithuania in a foreign country. The commission formed by the Minister of Education and Science (hereinafter referred to as the Commission) will examine the applications received no later than July 10, 2016

  • If a foreigner completed the first-cycle studies, but no certificate (diploma and enclosure thereto) was issued to him/her, he/she can submit a certificate of a higher education institution based in a foreign country, which must specify the study programme completed, courses or modules passed, their credits and assessments, assessment of the final examination or theme of the final project and its assessment, and its translation into Lithuanian, English or Russian
  • A document certifying the level of the study language command
  • A copy of the document issued by a competent institution, certifying the minimum B2 level of study language command according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages, or a copy of TOEFL IBT certificate (minimum assessment is 72 points), a copy of TOEFL Paper certificate (minimum assessment is 484 points), or a copy of IELTS certificate (minimum assessment is 5 points)
  • Documents certifying achievements in research (artistic) activities
  • Published research articles and their translations into Lithuanian, English or Russian
  • Certificates on speeches delivered at scientific conferences and their translations into Lithuanian, English or Russian
  • Artistic activity folder (if a foreigner will study in the field of art) in Lithuanian, English or Russian
  • Motivational letter in Lithuanian, English or Russian
  • Recommendation (recommendations) in Lithuanian, English or Russian
  • A copy of the confirmation issued by a Lithuanian higher education institution that the foreigner was admitted or is studying in the second-cycle full-time study programme, with an indication of the foreigner’s name, surname, study programme, which the foreigner studies, and state code, foreigner’s study period
  • Contact details – address in the country of origin, e-mail address, phone number, Skype username

Value

The duration of the Melbourne Research Scholarship is two years for students undertaking a Master by research degree and three years, with a possible six-month extension, for students undertaking a Doctorate by research degree. The benefits of the Melbourne Research Scholarship vary depending on your circumstance and may include one or more of the following:

  • A fortnightly living allowance
  • A relocation allowance for students moving to Melbourne from interstate or from outside Australia,
  • Limited paid sick, maternity and parenting leave equivalent to the Australian Postgraduate Awards benefits
  • Full fee remission (international students only)

The Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung (KAS) is offering scholarships for master and graduates students to study and research at universities in Germany. The Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung (KAS) is a political foundation, inspired by Christian democratic values, committed to fostering democracy and the rule of law, to implementing social and market-economic structures and to promoting human rights in Europe and worldwide

The sponsorship program for foreign students (Ausländerförderung) is aimed at international students and graduates who have acquired a university degree in their home country and who intend to complete postgraduate or master studies, doctoral studies or a research stay at a university in Germany

Eligibility

The following criteria must be met in order for applicants to be eligible for this scholarship:
Applicants should

  • Be able to provide evidence of above average academic performance
  • Bring broad general education and distinct interest in political issues
  • Have a positive attitude towards democracy and human rights
  • Have been actively engaged in voluntary work for the benefit of the people and the society in their home countries
  • Be open to developing their personal points of view and practice tolerance towards those with different beliefs
  • Be highly motivated and be able to convince us with their own plans and potential

 

Our scholarships consist not only of financial assistance but also include a program of ideational support. We expect our scholars to participate actively in this program throughout the eligibility period, including

  • The participation in at least four multi-day seminars of our annual agenda
  • Regular attendance and active participation in the meetings of the regional scholar group at their university. The activities of these regional scholar groups offer a unique opportunity to enter into an interdisciplinary, political and personal exchange with other scholars, alumni and representatives of our foundation at the universities, the so-called “Vertrauensdozenten”.

Value

This Scholarship offers the following:

  • Duration and level of funding vary for different types of studies. Graduates (master or postgraduate students) receive a monthly scholarship of € 750. The standard funding period is two years
  • After having obtained unconditional admission to doctoral studies at a German university, PhD-students receive a monthly scholarship of € 920. The standard funding period for Ph.D. scholars is three years
  • We also fund research stays in Germany with duration of at least 6 months by the same amount (€ 920) under the condition that the applicant holds a university degree comparable to the German Master’s degree and provides evidence of at least two years of work experience in the academic field
  • Besides the monthly scholarship payments, they offer multiple subsidies for our scholars. On request, we subsidise health care insurance of up to the amount of € 120 per month
  • Also, we pay a family supplement provided that you and your spouse live together in one place in Germany for at least three months and that his/her income does not exceed the amount of € 450 per month. We grant a supplement of € 184 per month for children living with you in Germany. Prerequisites are the submission of an official German translation of the child’s birth certificate and the official rejection of your demand for public child allowance
  • PhD-scholars can apply for financial assistance for foreign research stays although we do not fund participation in congresses or symposia
  • Fees resulting from courses at the university in Germany that are directly related to your studies can be refunded up to the amount of € 500 per semester. In contrast, we do not refund regular semester fees resulting from matriculation or annual re-registration
  • Note: after finishing their studies in Germany, the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung expects its former scholars to contribute actively to the development of their home country’s relations with the Federal Republic of Germany

Important information regarding the formal application requirements:

  • The minimum period in our scholarship program is one year and the remaining length of applicants studies or research in Germany has to be at least two semesters. They do not provide support for bachelor studies. Only students in master, postgraduate or doctoral studies are eligible for our scholarship program
  • Students in Medicine or Pharmacy can only apply after having completed their intermediate exam in Germany or when having achieved a comparable stage of their studies in another country. Human or dental medicine specialist training or postgraduate research stays in Germany cannot be supported
  • Persons having already achieved a doctorate are not eligible for a scholarship
  • There is an age limit of 30 years for all applicants
  • Our program of ideational support and the activities of the regional scholar groups are held in German. For this reason, a sufficient knowledge of the German language (level B2 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages) is obligatory for all scholars even if the courses of their planned studies are taught in English. In general, our scholars take and pass the DSH exam (Deutsche Sprachprüfung für den Hochschulzugang – German Exam for College Admission) or the DaF-test (Deutsch als Fremdsprache – Test of German as a foreign language) with a high rating before the beginning of their university studies in Germany. In exceptional cases and for highly qualified applicants only, we financially support German language courses as preparation for studies in Germany
  • International applicants are eligible to apply for these scholarships

  • A meaningful CV in tabular form including details about your previous voluntary work or social commitment
  • Copies of your examination certificates in German translation if the originals are not in English
  • Copies of your studies performance records if you have been studying at a University in Germany

  • An informal academic letter of recommendation: This opinion should provide information about your academic qualifications and potential; it should not be older than two months. The author has to be a university professor or teacher holding a doctoral degree
  • An informal letter of recommendation concerning the applicant’s personality: This opinion should focus on your personality and interests as well as on your understanding of values and your social commitment. The author cannot be the same as that providing the academic letter of recommendation
  • Certificate of admission or matriculation from your university in Germany
  • Two passport photographs: If applying for a doctoral scholarship, please attach additionally
  • A detailed description of your doctoral thesis: This exposé, written in German or English (4-5 pages), should outline the central research question of your proposed project, its scientific relevance, your theoretical approach and the motives behind your choice of the research subject. It should also contain a work and time schedule and a bibliography
  • A second academic letter of recommendation: This second opinion should be written by the supervisor of your doctoral thesis, providing you already have one. It replaces the letter of recommendation concerning the applicant’s personality

The University of Cambridge is offering a free online course to prepare for IELTS (International English Language Testing System). IELTS is English language proficiency test for non-native English language speakers required by the universities in UK, Australia and New Zealand for admission purposes.

The new five-week course, Inside IELTS: Preparing for the Test with the Experts, is for anyone who wants to study abroad and have English language qualification. The aim of the TWAS-CSIR Fellowships is to enable and encourage academically able students from developing countries. With the world’s largest South-South Ph.D. and post-doctoral research fellowship programme, TWAS helps early-career researchers to gain education and experience at top global science institutions

Fellowships are awarded in the field of natural sciences (Agricultural Sciences, Structural, Cell and Molecular Biology, Biological Systems and Organisms, Medical and Health Sciences incl. Neurosciences, Sciences, Engineering Sciences, Astronomy, Space, and Earth Sciences, Mathematical Sciences and Physics)

Eligibility

Applicants for these fellowships must meet the following criteria:
