Scholarships are awarded in all research sectors (health, social sciences, arts and humanities, natural sciences and engineering) preselected by a Québec University, the Trans-Tech Network ( for CCTT), the China Scholarship Council (CSC) and the Secretariat of External Relations of Mexico (SRE) and the National Council of Science and Technology of Mexico (CONACYT) to begin or continue studies or research activities in Quebec. Eligibility

Candidates

  • Must meet all eligibility requirements at the time of contest closing either the 1st November 2016 (date to be confirmed separately for pre-selected students of the CSC)
  • Must have been preselected by a university, the Trans-Tech Network (for CCTT), the SRE or CONACYT on or before September 23, 2016
  • The stock market Québec-China must be pre-selected by the CSC at the latest March 31, 2017
  • Must not have already received a scholarship for foreign students Ministry of Education and Higher Education of Quebec (MEES), the Québec Research Fund – Nature and Technology or the Quebec Research Fund – society and Culture
  • Should not be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident of Canada
  • Must not have applied for permanent residence under the Canadian immigration laws
  • In addition to the conditions mentioned above, the candidate must take note of the restrictions and follow administrative prerequisites:

Restriction for study programs: Candidates for Québec-Wallonie scholarships must have previously studied in a French-speaking Belgian university at the time of receiving the award.

Criteria for the awardees doctoral research (V1, 1B, 1C, 1I, 1M, 1W) are:

  • Be holders of a certificate of acceptance (CAQ) issued by the Department of Immigration, Diversity and Inclusion and a study permit issued by the Canadian Consulate valid throughout the period studies in Quebec.

Holders of a postdoctoral fellowship (V2, 2B, 2C, 2I, 2M) and award of short-term research or professional development (V3, 3B, 3C, 3I, 3M, 3W) must:

  • Be holders of a work permit issued by the Canadian Consulate for the duration of stay in Quebec.

Value

  • Doctoral research scholarships (V1, 1B, 1C, 1I, 1M, 1W): $ 25,000 per year. The maximum duration of this scholarship is three years (nine sessions) with the possibility of extension up to 12 months (monthly allowance of $ 1,000)
  • Postdoctoral Fellowships (V2, 2B, 2C, 2I, 2M): $ 35,000 for one year, non-renewable
  • Scholarship Short-term research or professional development (V3, 3B, 3C, 3I, 3M, 3W): $ 3,000 per month for a period of four months

Once shortlisted, the candidate is given a personal identification number (PIN) and a password. He must then fill out an electronic form which will be attached to the required documents on the website of the NRF . Only the e-form in the 2017/2018 competition and other documents required are accepted

Full time fully funded and partially funded full-time studentships are available. Students who are awarded a fully-funded studentship receive a tax-free bursary covering three or four years study. The anticipated grant rate for fully funded studentships for 2015-2016 will be £13,840, which is reviewed annually in line with Research Council norms and a research training grant.

  • Rationale for the proposal (i.e. the relationship between the proposed design of the research, the research questions and/or hypotheses and the proposed method of analysis)
  • Knowledge and understanding of proposed research methods (i.e. why certain methods have been proposed in comparison with alternatives)
  • Feasibility of the design (i.e. the scope and context of the research; proposed sampling methods; data collection methods and possible sources of bias)
  • Knowledge and understanding of the relationship between analysis, interpretation and theory
  • Knowledge and understanding of the ethical considerations that need to be taken into account in the conduct of the research
  • Knowledge and understanding of the process of research and knowledge generation (i.e. the need for research to be generalizable and replicable).

Short-listing will be completed as soon as possible after the closing date. Interviews will be held during April/May 2015. Candidates will be asked to provide a copy of a recent piece of academic writing.

The University of East Anglia (UEA) is pleased to offer a large range of scholarships to self-funded students wishing to pursue postgraduate masters courses at UEA. These scholarships are for students who are classified as overseas (non-EU) for fees purposes. The scheme consists of 50 prizes: 25 awards of 50% of the tuition fee or 25 awards of 25% of the tuition fee. The award shall be made as a tuition fee scholarship by means of a fee discount. The length of the award is specified in beneficiaries’ scholarship notification email.

Eligibility

  • The scholarship applies to overseas fee payers.
  • If the fee status changes during their course from Overseas to Home/EU Fees the scholarship shall be discontinued.
  • The scholarship awarded will be exclusive and students cannot be awarded it in conjunction with another UEA award.
  • Where applicants are offered a scholarship, and already hold another UEA award, the scholarship worth the greater financial sum will be awarded only.

Value

The scheme consists of 50 prizes: 25 awards of 50% of the tuition fee or 25 awards of 25% of the tuition fee. The award shall be made as a tuition fee scholarship by means of a fee discount. No cheque or payment shall be made directly to the beneficiary.

However, the earlier a candidate submits his/her application the more chance of being awarded a scholarship as scholarships are awarded monthly.

One scholarship of £6000 – DSO Female Leader of the Future One scholarship of £6000 – DSO European Visionary Scholarship* (for those who are prepared to test new ideas; to go beyond the status quo and make a difference to industry and society) Two scholarships of £6000 – DSO International Leader of the Future Scholarships £2000 partial scholarships for Strathclyde graduates may also be available for eligible candidates.

Eligibility

Candidates interested in applying for these prestigious scholarships are required to

  • Demonstrate through their ideas, experience, and achievements that they are an excellent team player, with a strong vision for the future
  • We will also consider leadership/managerial skills or potential, the overall quality of the application and financial need.
  • The award will be judged on a 1000 word statement supplied by each candidate which should clearly articulate how you meet the scholarship criteria and outline your reasons for applying for the scholarship.

Value

The scholarships are valued at £6,000 and £2,000 respectfully.

Applicants will be judged on the overall quality of the application and financial need. The successful candidates for the full-time awards will be notified by the end of July 2015.
