Applications are invited for the 2016 Fully-Funded MBA Scholarships in Business School Netherlands (BSN), Netherlands. These scholarships are funded through the Netherlands Fellowship Programmes (NFP)

Scholarship description

The NFP is initiated and fully funded by the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs from the budget for development cooperation. Business School Netherlands is proud to be one of the Dutch institutions offering NFP-qualified courses to managers and trainee managers who are looking to tackle the food security issues within in their country. The funding for this MBA Scholarship, better known as the Netherlands Fellowship Programme (NFP), is made available through Nuffic the Governmental body responsible for the promotion of the Dutch Higher Education system worldwide

NFP is a full (100%) MBA Scholarship programme designed to foster institutional development within certain parts of the world. Applicants to certain academic and short courses of Dutch higher education institutions apply for the fellowship to cover the cost of tuition fees, accommodation and international travel for study

Business School Netherlands (BSN), the Action Learning business school, is now open for applicants wanting to study an International MBA with a focus on food security. Eligible applicants living in one of the 51 NFP countries and working in Government, Semi-Government, small-medium organisations and local community NGO’s are invited to apply for the International Action Learning MBA with a Major in Food Security programme until 22 July 2016

This English part-time, blended learning MBA programme, allows for a very practical approach to educating business leaders of the future. The International Action Learning MBA is designed for working professionals in the food security/agriculture/farming sectors who are interested in finding solutions to current management issues within their own organisations whilst achieving personal enrichment and great ROI

Approximately, 1000 courses (Masters and Short Courses) are offered each year through the NFP scholarship whereby 20,000 applications are received. 7,000 nominations are processed and then assessed by the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Dutch embassies, rounding up a final 2,000 candidates who are selected from the various Dutch institutions, BSN being one of the chosen institutes. In doing so, skilled managers and senior professional in the 51 NFP countries are enabled to drive change and improvement in their countries

Eligibility

The following are the eligibility criteria for these scholarships:

  • Mid-career professionals in employment
  • Only the individual applicant can apply for funding
  • The training must occur within the context of the organisation with which the applicant works
  • The training must be seen to help the organisation in its development strategies
  • Employer support is essential

Note: while fellowships are awarded to individuals, the need for training must occur within the context of the organization for which an applicant works. The training must help the organization to develop its capacity. This means that applicants must be nominated by their employers. In fact, an application without the support of an employer will not be considered

Priorities

Half of the available funding from the NFP budget should be spent on fellowships for female candidates and for candidates from sub-Saharan Africa. Apart from this, priority is given to candidates from deprived groups and/or from marginalized regions.

Additionally, the overall objective is to spend 35% of the budget on grants and study programmes in food security and private sector development

  • Applicants will first need to make application with BSN for the International Action Learning MBA with a Major in Food Security and ensure that they meet all the entry requirements of this programme
  • Priority focus is given to applicants who live and work in Sub-Saharan Africa, work within the food security/agriculture/farming sectors as well as female applicants

Currently International MBA candidates from within the following countries are eligible to apply for funding through the Dutch Embassy or Consulate within their country

How to apply

  • Submit your application to the Admissions Team before 15 July, 2016
  • For non-English speakers a TOEFL or IELTS language test is required. The minimum pass mark for TOEFL is 550 (paper); 213 (computer) or 80 (internet) and IELTS 6.0. Exemptions can be considered should your mother tongue be English and you have successfully completed your degree in English.

Eligibility

Entrance Requirement: Bachelor degree or equivalent with a GPA of at least 4.50 on a 7 point scale and four years full-time work experience post-graduation including at least two of the four years full-time work experience gained while working in a dedicated supervisory/management role as approved by the Executive Dean; or graduate diploma in Business Administration from UQ or equivalent with a GPA of at least 4.50 on a 7 point scale

Test Requirement: International applicants must complete the Graduate Management Admissions Test (GMAT) with a minimum score of 550

English Language Requirement: To meet the UQ’s English language proficiency requirements, student must demonstrate one of the following:

  • A score equivalent to four semesters of Sound Achievement in Queensland Studies Authority English or Australian or international equivalent. Less than four semesters may be considered for some programs
  • At least 6.5 overall and a minimum of 6.0 in each sub-band of the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) or equivalent test. Some programs have higher English proficiency requirements; see individual program requirements

Value

The scholarship will entitle the successful applicants to receive a 50% discount on their course tuition fees for a maximum period of 24 months. If the scholarship recipient exceeds the 24 months timeframe they become solely responsible for the full tuition cost of any and all remaining courses after the date specified in the scholarship offer. The scholarship will be renewed at the end of each semester for a period of 24 months if the holder:

  • Obtains satisfactory grades; and
  • Maintains a satisfactory rate of continuous enrolment for a period of 24 months within the MBA program; and
  • Fulfils the obligations of an MBA student; and
  • Remains an MBA student

How to apply

Applicants must meet each of the following conditions in order to apply for the scholarship:

  • Have already submitted an application for entry into the MBA program and be eligible to receive an ‘unconditional’ offer for admission. That is, student must have met the official entry criteria for acceptance into the MBA program (including GMAT, English Language proficiency, and work experience); and
  • Provide a personal statement of no more than 1000 words (use 1.5 spacing and 12 point font) in support of their application. This statement should:
    explain why they want to undertake the MBA at UQ Business School; and
    b. describe what value they think they will bring to their fellow MBA students; and
    c. outline long-term career goals; and
    d. provide evidence of leadership skills and community involvement; and

  • Two written references that are work related. Applicant’s referees need to substantiate the nature of their work and the managerial duties they currently perform. They should verify details including but not limited to: managing a team of people, managing client accounts, the managerial components of any major projects they have been directly responsible for, and/or financial delegations for which student is directly responsible. All references must be to the satisfaction of the MBA Director
  • Evidence of residency status
  • Permanent residents will be required to sit an IELTS and/or GMAT test if their prior studies were taught in an institution where English was not the language of instruction

The Willamette MBA Global Diversity Scholarship program is for International students. The total award will include the $5,000 Global Diversity Scholarship and an Atkinson School Scholarship of $16,000 or more, based on the application credentials

When submitting your MBA application, you will need to include a scholarship essay in addition to the required MBA essays. This year’s question is: ‘How do you intend to change the world? What does this tell us about you as a person?  (Maximum 500 words)

The Gates Cambridge Scholarships are one of the most prestigious international scholarship programs in the world. The program was established in 2000 by a donation of US$210m from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation to the University of Cambridge; this is the largest ever single donation to a UK university.

Gates Cambridge Scholarships are prestigious, highly competitive full-cost financial aid grants. They are awarded to outstanding applicants from countries outside the UK to pursue a full-time postgraduate degree in any subject available at the University of Cambridge. Up to 40 Gates Cambridge Scholarships are awarded to US students and up to 55 scholarships are awarded to international students

  • Should be a citizen of any country outside the United Kingdom

Current Cambridge students apply and are considered in the second, international deadline and go through the same process of departmental ranking, short-listing and interviewing as all other candidates.

A Gates Cambridge Scholarship covers the full cost of studying at Cambridge. It also provides additional, discretionary funding. The Gates Cambridge Scholarship is one of the most generous international scholarships available. It covers the following costs:
Core components:

  • The University Composition Fee at the appropriate rate
  • A maintenance allowance for a single student (£14,300 for 12 months at the 2015-16 rate; pro rata for courses shorter than 12 months)
  • One economy single airfare at both the beginning and end of the course
  • Inbound visa costs & associated NHS surcharge costs

Discretionary components: The Trust also considers applications for several types of additional funding on a discretionary basis:

  • Academic development funding – from £500 to £1,500, dependent on the length of your course, to attend conferences and courses
  • Family allowance – up to £9,630 for a first child and up to £4,110 for a second child. No funding is provided for a partner
  • Fieldwork – you may apply to keep up to your normal maintenance allowance while on fieldwork as part of your PhD
  • Hardship funding – for unforeseen difficulties
  • Maternity/Paternity funding – should you require it, you may apply to intermit your studies for up to 6 months and continue to receive your maintenance allowance during this time
  • Some fourth year funding for PhD Scholars may be provided

Receiving a salary or substantial other scholarship? If you are receiving a salary from an employer or have another substantial scholarship, the Trust reserves the right to reduce or not pay the standard maintenance allowance. You should let the Trust know ASAP if you are awarded any funding towards your degree at Cambridge

How to apply

Applicants apply for a Gates Cambridge Scholarship and admission to their chosen postgraduate course at the University of Cambridge and a Cambridge College via the Graduate Admissions Office, using the GRADSAF form and supporting documents. If you are applying for admission to the MBA or Master of Finance program, you apply for a Gates Cambridge Scholarship via the Judge Business School. To be considered for postgraduate admission and a Gates Cambridge Scholarship all applicants must submit the following documents to the Graduate Admissions Office by the relevant deadline:

  • GRADSAF application form (which includes a Gates Cambridge section)
  • Academic transcripts
  • 2 academic references
  • 1 personal reference (for the Gates Cambridge Scholarship)

Each Scholar is different and brings something unique to the program. But they are looking for four key criteria:

Scholarship description

The MBA (Global) Scholarship has been developed by Curtin University to encourage and support academically talented students to commence the MBA (Global) at Curtin University. 3 scholarships are available this year

Eligibility

Applicants must meet all of the following criteria to be eligible to apply for a MBA (Global) Scholarship:

  • Receive an offer of place into the MBA (Global) in Semester 1, 2016
  • Completed an undergraduate degree with a first class honours or academic achievement as evidenced by their academic record (minimum CWA of 70)
  • Not to be in receipt of any other Curtin funded scholarships
  • Not to be in receipt of any other sponsorship
  • Please note: Students with credit for recognised learning (CRL) are not eligible
  • Deferral of this scholarship is not permitted
  • Australian, New Zealand and International students can apply for these scholarships

Value

This scholarship will provide the following support for the expected duration of the MBA (Global) for up to a maximum of 2 years (based on a full-time load of 100 credits per semester):

  • 50% of the student tuition fees* of the MBA (Global) each semester. *The fee component of the scholarship will be paid directly to the student fee account in two instalments per year to be paid prior to the census date relevant to each enrolled semester

How to apply

The mode of applying is by post, electronically, fax or in person. Applicants are to fill the Application form. Applications will be assessed by an assessment panel using the following criteria:

  • Responses to questions in application form
  • Academic merit

Outcome will be sent via email within 6-8 weeks after the closing date (all successful and unsuccessful applicants notified)

Scholarship description

This scholarship is awarded to all students who are eligible for a scholarship and have accepted their offer before the closing date. The scholarship will only be valid when the student has met all entry requirements for the MBA programme. The scholarship will be void when the student fails to register for the 2014 intake on the MBA programme

Eligibility

The general eligibility requirements are:

  • Academic requirements – applicants should have a first or upper second class UK honours degree or equivalent
  • Allowed study options – applicants should have received at least a conditional offer from the University to study on the full-time MBA programme
  • Personal criteria – applicants must have the personal, intellectual and interpersonal qualities necessary to make an excellent contribution to the programme
  • All students who are eligible for a scholarship and have accepted their offer before the closing date will be automatically considered

Value

  • UK applicants: Two scholarships valued at £19,760 each
  • Indian applicants: Two scholarships valued at £7,000 each
  • Pakistani applicants: Two scholarships valued at £7,000 each
